[25F] What countries would you advise completely avoiding/never visiting alone?

Our take

Traveling solo as a young woman can be an exhilarating adventure, but safety should always be a priority. In this discussion, we’ll explore a list of countries that many consider best to avoid when traveling alone, particularly from the perspective of a 25-year-old American female traveler. While certain regions like the Middle East and countries such as Russia, Haiti, and Venezuela often raise red flags, we encourage a civil exchange of opinions.

i have a general list of countries I know are already on the list of definitely don't travel to especially alone, but I'm curious if people have any more or if anyone has an argument for why certain countries shouldn't be on the ban list. let's keep a discussion civil. this is from the perspective of a 25 (young adult) female american citizen with a US passport.

Listed below are my current list of banned countries aka nope not traveling there:

- The Middle East (just the entire area)

- Russia and surrounding countries

- Ukraine

- Most of the Central American countries except for Panama and Costa Rica (which I've been told are safer to travel to but comment below if you think those are a bad idea too)

- Haiti

- Most of Mexico

- China

- North Korea

- Cuba

- Ecuador

- Venezuela

Countries that should probably be banned but are really compelling to visit:

- Italy

- France

- Brazil

- India?

- China?

Anyways comment below opinions/ whether a country should or shouldn't be on the travel ban list. this is again based on this year 2026, as an American Citizen, and a woman.
