I am an architect and cultures-urban photographer who is going to spend 9 days in northern Vietnam in the end of April. I have several questions:
- Any recommendations for a route starting and finishing in Hanoi? I'm not into trekking or museums unless they are exceptionally outstanding.
- Any recommendations for areas to stay in Hanoi? I'm looking for an interesting central area where lively activities take place both early in the morning and in the afternoon/night. Unique, beautiful hotels?
- I heard that Ha Long Bay is super busy with tourists. Is there any unique way to see the bay without the hustling waves of tourists?
- How would you recommend getting from one place to the other? I won't have a backpack but a large suitcase.
- Any other recommendations for hidden gems in the area? Or tips that would make my experience there even more special?

- Rate my vietnam itineraryThis august im going to Vietnam and I’ll have about a week to explore the central and southern parts. I was thinking of spending 2 nights in Hue, 1 night in Hoi An, 2 nights in Da Nang, and 4 nights in Ho Chi Minh. However, I have a few doubts. First, I dont know if 2 days in Hue are enough to see the main things. Second, I’m not sure whether just one night in Hoi An is worth it, considering everyone says it becomes much more beautiful in the evening. I’m also unsure about Da Nang. I’ll obviously pass through it on the way to Hoi An, but I’ve heard it’s mainly a coastal city, so i dont know if its worth visiting, or is it mostly just for relaxing at the beach? Lastly, I’m wondering whether 4 days in Ho Chi Minh City are enough. I’ll already be visiting Hanoi and the northern part of Vietnam in the previous weeks, as I’ll be busy with some volunteer activities there. I'm looking for advice for a couple (F34, F41) My plan is to travel as follows: 12th of December early morning-15th of Dec - Hanoi, 15th of Dec late evening - 20th of Dec - Chiang Mai (tickets already booked) No tickets for rest: 20th of December - 25th of Dec - Koh Samui (travel though Surat Thani and take ferry) 25th of December - 29th of Dec - Bangkok (again ferry to Surat Thani and flight to Bangkok) 29th of December - 1st of January - Siem Reap (night bus to the next stop) 1st of January - 4th of Jan - Phnom Penh, 4th of January - ??? Ho Chi Minh City. I need to travel back home on the 11th of January. I really wanted to see Hoi An, is it possible? I know it may be rainy, so not really sure if it's worth it. Should I stay somewhere longer and finish in Ho Chi Minh City? I would have to travel back home from Ho Chi Minh City. Any other suggestions are very welcome. We are more onto quiet holidays, don't really like partying or crowded cities. Would love to stay somewhere for a couple of relaxing days hence Koh Samui. - Vietnam itineraryHi there, first time visitor to Vietnam from Australia with my girlfriend, we are both 31. We have just over 2 weeks there so want to get the right balance of seeing Vietnam but also not constantly moving around trying to do too much. This is a rough itinerary we have put together, we'd be keen for any feedback on it and advice. We'd love to do the Loop as a priority for our trip. We like exploring the outdoors but also learning about history/culture/nightlife. This trip would be end of May and into June. We understand it is rainy in alot of these areas but are okay with it We think breaking down our trip to 3 segments, exploring the north including the ha giang loop - the centre for beach and relaxation and then finish back at HCM.
