Anyone been to Teutoburg Forest? Where to stay & how’s transportation?

Our take

Hey everyone! I’m gearing up for an exciting trip to Germany and have my sights set on the beautiful Teutoburg Forest. While exploring accommodation options in nearby cities like Bielefeld, Detmold, and Hannover, I found them a bit pricey. Münster caught my eye for its budget-friendly stays, but I’m unsure about the transportation to the forest from there. I plan to stay in one place, enjoy a nature-filled day trip, and then continue my adventure.

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a trip to Germany and I really want to visit the Teutoburg Forest.

I checked nearby cities like Bielefeld, Detmold, and Hannover for accommodation, but they seem quite expensive. Then I looked at Münster and found some cheaper places to stay, but I have no idea how easy it is to get to the Teutoburg Forest from there and come back.

My plan is to stay in one place, do a day trip into nature, come back, stay one more night, and then move on to another city.

So I have a few questions:

-Which city would you recommend staying in?

-Is it easy to reach the forest using public transport?

-Is Münster a bad idea distance-wise?

P.S: I’m also open to any suggestions on where to go next after Teutoburg Forest. I’m planning to do a bit of a nature focused trip before heading to Berlin, so any recommendations would be great. Thanks!
