Are we insane? 4 Day Sri Lanka Itinerary
Our take
My friend and I (21F, 22M) are planning on taking advantage of a public holiday weekend next month and are looking into travelling from Singapore to Sri Lanka. We have come up with a rough itinerary, but are really struggling with deciding if this is a worthwhile trip in such a short time-frame.
Day 1 (Thur): Arrive in Colombo at 11:15 AM
Spend the day in Colombo
Take a 12:30AM - 6 AM night bus from Colombo to Ella
Day 2 (Fri): Day in Ella
See the Nine Arch Bridge
Little Adams Peak
Explore Ella and the Area
Sleep in Ella
Day 3 (Sat): Transit to Dambulla
Seems like we can take a 6hr journey from 6 am - 12 pm with a transfer in Kandy by public transport
Sigiriya and Pidurangala Rock
Explore Dambulla in evening
Day 4 (Sun)
Early morning Dambulla Cave Temple
Minneriya National Park Safari
Private Transfer to Colombo Airport for 1:50 AM flight (4hr30m Journey)
Is this too packed? Is it even worth it for us to go to Ella since it adds that huge transfer on public transport? Should we just go Colombo --> Kandy --> Dambulla --> Airport? Adams Peak instead of Ella? Our flights are refundable for 24hrs and we are happy to look into other destinations if this isn't feasible.

- Sri Lanka Travel PlansHello! We are landing in Sri Landa on June 7th late afternoon (6ish) and leaving Saturday June 14th late at night and we’re hoping to get recommendation from people that have travelled there before. It’s a tight schedule so I was hopping to get recommendations on what we should hit while we’re there as well as tips for getting around. We won’t be traveling from far so we don’t necessarily want to spend the first night in negombo like others recommend but it seems like it’ll be hard to travel anywhere at the time we get there. Are there any trusted ride services we could pre book or do we just have to trust our luck with uber/ride share once we’re there? Some of the main areas we were thinking of hitting were: -Sigyria -Kandy -Ella -Safari in Yala -Hiriketiya -Ahangama Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/CorvoBondurant [link] [comments]
- Need Opinions on 9-Day Sri Lanka Travel PlansHi all! I will be spending 9 days in Sri Lanka in about two weeks and would love to hear your thoughts on two possible travel plans. I am mainly wondering whether these routes seem realistic. I would like to avoid spending too much time in transport, since I also want to have enough time for surfing, yoga and relaxing, but I would still love to see a few different places on the island. Plan 1 14 May: Arrival → Negombo/Colombo 15 May: Negombo → Udawalawe, around 4 h Safari either on the afternoon of 15 May or the morning of 16 May 16 May: Udawalawe → Ella, around 2.5 h 17 May: Ella 18 May: Ella → Weligama/Ahangama, around 4 h 19–23 May: Surf, yoga and chilling on the south coast 23/24 May: Evening/night transfer to the airport Plan 2 14 May: Arrival → Ahangama/Weligama 15–18 May: Surf, yoga and chilling on the south coast 19 May: South coast → Udawalawe, around 3 h 20 May: Morning safari, then back to the south coast 21–23 May: Weligama/Ahangama 23/24 May: Evening/night transfer to the airport I would be very happy to hear your honest opinion on whether either of these plans makes sense, or whether one of them sounds too rushed. submitted by /u/mandarindli__ [link] [comments]
