Asia Beckons: Six Weeks of Sunshine and Adventure Await!

Wow, a six-week adventure through Asia in July and August? That sounds absolutely epic! Even with the wet season rolling in for parts of Southeast Asia, your spirit for exploration is totally infectious. It’s awesome that you’re ready to dive into new experiences, and we’re here to help you find those pockets of sunshine and untouched beauty. You’ve already conquered so many incredible spots, so let’s brainstorm some ideas that will keep that adventurous energy high and your spirits glowing!

Since you’re kicking off in Sri Lanka, that’s a fantastic choice! While July and August are generally considered part of the monsoon season there, the south and west coasts tend to be drier during this time, with sunshine often giving way to brief, refreshing afternoon showers. Imagine exploring ancient ruins bathed in a soft, post-rain glow, or finding hidden waterfalls after a quick sprinkle! For your Southeast Asian leg, consider heading towards Borneo. While it’s tropical, parts of Borneo, particularly Sabah in Malaysia, can experience less intense rainfall during these months compared to other regions. Think lush rainforests, vibrant marine life, and the chance to encounter unique wildlife – talk about a nature lover's dream! And for those truly untouched vibes, venturing into less-traveled islands or smaller towns away from the main tourist hubs will always reward you with authentic experiences and a chance to connect with local culture.

Your love for beaches, nature, cool towns, and delicious food is totally in sync with what Asia has to offer. Even during the wet season, many places offer a different kind of magic. Think emerald rice paddies intensified by the rain, the scent of damp earth and blooming flowers, and fewer crowds for a more intimate exploration. Places like the Perhentian Islands in Malaysia (though some dive centers might close, the scenery is still stunning!) or parts of the Philippines like Siargao (known for its surf, but also has beautiful lagoons and rice fields) can still be incredibly rewarding. The key is to embrace the possibility of the occasional shower as part of the adventure, knowing that the sunshine will break through, making those moments of clear skies even more precious. Your bold approach to travel is exactly what makes journeys like these so unforgettable, and we're excited for you to discover more of Asia's boundless energy!

Hi all. My partner and I are planning on travelling for 6 weeks July/August. We are planning on starting in Sri Lanka and then hope to travel to Southeast Asia. I know this is predominantly wet season but we are fixed to these months due to work commitments.

We have been to parts of Asia many times and have visited Thailand (Bangkok, north, Koh Tao, Koh Phi Phi), Malaysia (KL, Penang, Langkawi, Malacca), Cambodia (Siem Reap only), Vietnam (north to south), Philippines (Manilla, Palawan, Coron, Cebu, Boracay), Singapore, Indonesia (Java, Bali, Gili, Lombok),Taiwan and parts of China.
