Azerbaijan's Landscapes and Villages Are the Ultimate Adventure Glow-Up
Azerbaijan October26

Azerbaijan just pulled off the ultimate adventure glow-up, and honestly, we're here for every single bit of it. This hidden gem of a country is proof that the best travel stories aren't always on the usual radar. From the futuristic skyline of Baku to the cobblestone charm of Sheki, this trip is a masterclass in chasing the unexpected. It reminds us of the same kind of wonder we felt Stepping into Brasov's old town is like unlocking a colorful autumn adventure, where every corner feels like a new level to explore. But Azerbaijan takes it a step further by blending ancient villages with raw, untamed landscapes that scream main character energy.

What makes this story so epic isn't just the scenery, it's the spirit of the journey. Renting a car and driving through the countryside from Shamakhi to Gabala and Lahij is the kind of bold, unstoppable move that turns a vacation into a real adventure. You're not just seeing the sights; you're earning them through winding roads and spontaneous stops. This is the same energy we loved in Budapest's Architecture and Vibes Just Became Our New Favorite Adventure, where the city itself became part of the experience. But Azerbaijan's rural heart adds a layer of discovery that feels even more personal. There's something magnetic about places that aren't overrun with tourists, where the food is incredible and the history hits you in the chest.

The emotional trip to Karabakh and Shusha is a powerful reminder that adventure isn't always about fun and games. Sometimes it's about understanding a region's story and feeling the weight of its past. That kind of depth makes the whole experience glow brighter. It's not just a photo op; it's a connection. We saw a similar spark in Chasing the sun with a $10 film camera through Ecuador's wild wonders, where the journey was as much about perspective as it was about the view. Azerbaijan delivers that same mix of wonder and reflection, but with its own unique flavor of mountains, forests, and old towns that feel like they've been waiting for you to discover them.

Here's the concrete takeaway: Azerbaijan is your next squad destination. It has the landscapes for the dreamers, the history for the thinkers, and the food for the hungry. The only question left is whether you're ready to trade the usual spots for a road less traveled. Because once you see those photos of Sheki's old town and the winding drives through the countryside, you'll know exactly why this country is about to become everyone's new obsession.

From travel

Just got back from Azerbaijan and honestly, what an underrated country! Spent a few days exploring Baku, then rented a car and drove around the country, visiting Shamakhi, Gabala, Sheki, Lahij and a few other places. The landscapes were incredible, from mountains and forests to little villages and beautiful old towns. Sheki was probably one of my favorite stops, and the drive through the countryside was an experience on its own. Also did a day trip to Karabakh, including Shusha. A really interesting and emotional experience, especially seeing the region in person and learning more about its history. Azerbaijan definitely…
