best places to plan/look into for Christmas/new year?
Our take
ok, im not the type that goes on vacations alot because of working fulltime. this year i already know i will be 100% free during the festive periods and want to go somewhere. family is trying to plan stuff but even they are so flip floppy with the "idk if we even want to go anywhere" or the "lets go to europe" (the original plan). i know its april but i just want to have good ideas of where are great places to go for those times.
for more context: i am a 33 year old man, plan to go alone, i live in the U.S.A but where i end up going, doesnt HAVE to be in the U.S. , i dont want to drop like.. a fortune type thing.. want to have it reasonably priced and stuff. idk exactly about budget because i just never gone traveling or anything before so idk how much is low budget/medium budget for places during that time.
if there are opportunities to meet people and not be alone then..cool. but at the same time i dont plan/expect to go somewhere just to be at like a nightclub the entire time or something. if any questions get asked I'll definitely reply and stuff... its just i want to have much planned before i start looking at prices and all that. i dont wven know when is best time once i know where ill go to start looking for plane/hotel tickets and all that.. so thats y ill just ask early.

- destination suggestions for travel over christmashey fellow travellers! i am not the biggest fan of christmas, so i travelled during this time of year last year. i really enjoyed it and want to do it again this year. i am looking for destination suggestions. last year i was in istanbul, which is also my plan for this year, if i cant find another destination. the time will be from december 24th to january 5th. my first post got removed, because i did not include a budget. i didnt think it would be necessary, since i am asking for destinations and in most places you can book a hostel room for € 10 per night or a five star one for € 1.000 per night. so my budget for this is limitless, i dont care if you suggest a generally cheap or generally expensive destination. just in case a certain number has to be included: my budget is € 9.548,94 max. requirements: country which doesnt celebrate christmas in this time frame, since i dont want to go to a place where most places are closed during the 24th and 25th and i have to sit alone in a hotel room the destination should be a city, i am not interested in "nature" things (f. e. beach, hiking, camping, ...) i do like to get drinks and to party, so a destination where drinking alcohol is banned or looked down upon is not ideal due to the current geopolitical situation the USA and the entire middle east are not options so yeah, curious about your suggestions 😄 edit 1: i forgot to mention that i am homosexual, so it also should be a country where i am not in danger of death for that edit 2: i am in europe, so destinations in the far east sound nice, but i feel it would be a bit of a too long flight, considering that i only have twelve nights to stay submitted by /u/S-Budget91 [link] [comments]
- Trip Soon to ItalySo I and my partner are planning a trip to Italy this December, around Christmas and New Years. What are some things I need to know? First time traveling abroad. Should I hire a planning company to have an itinerary built? Or should I plan everything myself? What’s a good budget for a decent experience? Any help would be much appreciated! submitted by /u/cornialicker4 [link] [comments]
- Best place to travel in late July-early August?Hello My husband and I have been wanting to plan a trip outside the US for quiet a while now. Our budget for flights would be under $1.7k each. We’re from a very small town between PDX and LAX so we’d most likely roadtrip down to one of those airports since they’re bigger. No set budget for the overall trip since we’re just researching but preferably nothing too crazy expensive haha! We’re very new to traveling but really want to make the best of our early 20s. So far we’ve only gone to Mexico but want to explore other places in the world. We love both nature and tropical places. We enjoy hiking, beaches, exploring city life, shopping, hot springs…essentially anything outdoors/cheaper ways to enjoy vacation! We love trying new food and getting to know people around our age. submitted by /u/Empty_Phone_8762 [link] [comments]
- Looking for the right destination in DecemberI am a December baby and I’m trying to find an international destination from the US that I can’t enjoy with some friends and maybe some family members. Since my birthday is so close to Christmas and New Years, I often run into the problem of having to consider that people may not want to spend a lot of money to go out of the country around that time. But I’ve always longed to go out of the country for my birthday. I was originally looking at either Cartagena, Colombia or Sint Marteen. However, the plane tickets alone were 1600-2200. I asked a friend if that was too much and they said people probably wouldn’t be willing to pay that. I personally think having this much time to pay for it is enough, but everyone prioritizes differently. I really want to travel during this time and I want as many people to be able to come. So, what are some international travel destinations from the US that are more affordable. Here are some things I’m looking for: Relaxation and fun: I want to be able to relax some days, but go out on a night a few times. History: I love historical museums and excursions that take me there All inclusive preferred: it’s not mandatory. I’m willing to book an Airbnb in a place I feel safe as long as I feel like it’s safe. Otherwise, I prefer a resort. submitted by /u/buyingbusiness [link] [comments]
