The vibrancy of the Big Island is not just in its picturesque landscapes but also in its diverse activities. The traveler’s itinerary, which included time in both Pahoa and Kona, allowed for a deeper exploration of the island’s varied ecosystems and communities. This dual-stay approach is particularly noteworthy, as it reflects a growing trend among modern travelers who prioritize immersive experiences over superficial visits. The mention of specific locations, such as Volcano National Park and Kukio Keiki Beach, highlights not just the beauty of the environment, but also the wealth of opportunities for family-friendly activities. For those planning their next escapade, this narrative emphasizes the value of local insights and recommendations. These photos are from our trip to the Big Island this May. I’ve never been to the Big Island before. We loved it very much! Such an amazing place. We stayed the first 2 nights in Pahoa on the east side of the island and then stayed 5 nights over in Kona. I would definitely recommend doing this as we were able to travel and see much more of the island without rushing this way. I would definitely recommend visiting Carlsmith Beach Park, Volcano National Park (not pictured here), Magic Sands Beach, Kukio Keiki Beach (especially if you have kids like we did), Manta Ray Snorkeling at night (also not pictured here sadly because I could not take good photos at night ), Captain Cook in general but especially snorkeling Honaunau Bay which was insane, Waimea, Kauna’oa Beach and Kua Bay. Many more amazing things to see than this as well! It was all so awesome! 🤙
