Books + film/TV for Tanzania (safari + Zanzibar) - culture & history for adults + kids 11–13?
Our take
Hey everyone! My family and I are gearing up for an exciting trip to Tanzania, where we'll explore the stunning safari and relax in beautiful Zanzibar. To enrich our experience, we want to dive into books and films that highlight the culture, history, and everyday life of this incredible region. We're looking for captivating reads and engaging shows suitable for both adults and kids aged 11–13, avoiding anything too dense or academic. What titles would you recommend for our adventure? Thanks for your help!
Hi everyone! my family and I are planning a trip to Tanzania: safari plus time in Zanzibar. We’d love to read and watch a bit before we go so we’re not just seeing animals and beaches without context.
Looking for:
- Books that help with culture, history, and everyday life.
- Movies or TV series (documentaries, drama, whatever) that give a useful sense of place, Happy to use subtitles.
- Suggestions for adults and for kids roughly 11–13 (they read well but aren’t ready for dense academic stuff; for screen stuff, assume we’ll check ratings / content ourselves).
- Fiction is welcome for books; for film/TV, same. Not only docs.
What would you pack on the shelf and the watchlist? Thanks in advance.
