Bowling Tournament Trip Troubles: What Happens with Non-Refundable Bookings?

Navigating cancellation questions with Orbitz can be a bit tricky, especially with non-refundable bookings.

Hey squad! So, you’re gearing up for an epic bowling tournament, and suddenly, a snag pops up with your hotel booking. Totally get it – planning a trip with your team is all about good vibes and making memories, and when things get tricky with reservations, it can feel like your sunshine is dimming a little. You booked a non-refundable room way back in January for a May tournament, thinking everything was locked in. But then, a teammate’s time off gets complicated, and suddenly, you’re navigating the wild world of booking changes. It’s a classic adventure plot twist, right?

It sounds like you’ve already been super bold and proactive, reaching out to both the hotel and Orbitz. It’s awesome that the hotel was willing to be flexible and let you switch rooms, even if it meant a price adjustment. That’s the spirit of teamwork! The little hiccup came when you had to go through the booking platform, Orbitz, to make it happen. Sometimes these systems can feel like a maze, but you were determined to find a way. And hey, you ended up securing a new, refundable room that’s even better priced directly through Hilton – that’s a win! It’s all about finding those moments of glow even when things seem a bit off track.

Now, the big question is about that refund for the original booking. You did the smart thing and booked a new, refundable room before the refund was fully processed for the old one. Orbitz has initiated the refund for your first reservation, and you're wondering if they'll reverse it if you cancel the new one. Generally, once a refund is processed for a canceled reservation, it’s yours! Orbitz’s process usually involves them confirming the cancellation with the hotel, and then they issue the refund. Canceling a *new* reservation, even if it’s refundable, shouldn't impact the refund you’ve already received for the *original* one. Think of it like this: you’ve successfully navigated a tricky quest, and the treasure (your refund) is secure! Keep that positive energy flowing, and focus on the fun ahead at the tournament with your unstoppable squad!

booked a hotel room from Orbitz that was non refundable and non changeable for a bowling tournament my bowling team is going to. We decided the dates we were going together so I booked the room according to that date. I booked it in January for a date in May. Found out a week ago one of the people going couldn’t get the weekend off (her time off was initially approved when booked).
