Budapest and its cakes

Our take

Get ready for a delicious adventure in Budapest, where the city’s vibrant culture meets its mouthwatering cakes! During your three-day trip, dive into the sweet delights of Hungary, especially the iconic Dobostorta, Esterházy torta, and Krémes. While Ruszwurm Cukrászda may be temporarily closed, don’t worry! Szamos Gourmet Ház is a fantastic alternative for indulging in Dobostorta and Esterházy torta. For Krémes, you might want to explore local bakeries to uncover hidden gems. Let’s make your cake quest a

Hello, I will be travelling to Hungary for 3 full days (and one morning). I plan to spend 2 full days in Budapest (Sunday and Monday) and on the 3rd day I plan to explore Szentendre.

I was planning to go to Ruszwurm Cukrászda to taste Dobostorta, Esterházy torta and Krémes (Ruszwurm torta), but now it's shown as temporarily closed and by doing some research the future doesn't look that bright and it surely won't be open again that soon.

Another potentional place Auguszt Cukrászda is closed on the days of my visit. Any suggestions that aren't just meant for tourists and preferably a place, where I could get all (or at least 2) of them at once? How good is Szamos Gourmet Ház, at least Dobostorta and Esterházy torta can be found there.

And where to even find Krémes (Ruszwurm torta)? Is it even being made in any other place than Ruszwurm Cukrászda?

Thanks in advance!
