A week of slow travel in Budapest

Our Take: Budapest Reset: Slow Travel, Startup Life, and Finding the Glow

Sometimes, the most epic adventures start with a little bit of a wobble, right? That’s exactly the vibe we’re getting from this incredible Budapest reset. Our traveler, a self-employed founder based in London, decided to embrace slow travel, aiming for a relaxed European escape. And guess what? Even though the initial days felt a bit like a detour from the sunshine, the journey absolutely found its glow! It’s a powerful reminder that even when things feel a little off-key at first, staying open and curious can lead to the most amazing discoveries. Embracing the unexpected is part of the adventure, and this story is proof!

The initial feeling of being a bit unsettled in a new place is so relatable. Navigating a new city as a solo female traveler, especially when your surroundings don’t immediately feel welcoming, can be a challenge. But then, the magic happens! As the sun came out, so did the city’s true energy. Seeing people enjoying simple moments at outdoor cafes, finding that sense of community, and witnessing the transformation that sunshine brings is pure inspiration. It’s a testament to how our environment can shift our perspective and how even small moments of connection can make a big difference. This is the kind of positivity we love to see!

And the best moments? They weren't about ticking off every single tourist hotspot. They were about stumbling upon hidden gems and embracing serendipity. Finding solace in a quiet spot near a popular landmark, discovering a breathtaking organ concert by chance, or finding the perfect street photography angle – these are the moments that truly make a trip special and create lasting memories. It’s about being present, open to what the city offers, and letting your own curiosity guide you. This Budapest reset is a reminder to dream big, explore boldly, and always chase that feeling of adventure!

From travel

I just spent a week in Budapest doing some slow travel. I am self-employed/startup founder and live in London so figured I’d take it slow in Europe.

Honestly…I hated it my first 2 days. My Airbnb courtyard was absolutely run down and I was terrified as a solo female traveler. It was gorgeous during the day though (last pic). The energy in the city still felt a bit cold, I’m also Indian and I’m not sure if that contributed? Again, I could be totally wrong so sorry if that’s wrong!
