Our Take: China Adventure: Four Friends, Epic Journey from Hong Kong to Beijing

This is exactly the kind of epic adventure we live for! Four friends, a whole month in China, and a thirst for discovery beyond the usual tourist trails? Sign us up! It sounds like you're ready to dive headfirst into an unforgettable journey, and we're so stoked to help you map out the perfect route. Landing in the buzzing energy of Hong Kong and jetting off from the grandiosity of Beijing is a fantastic starting point. You're already setting yourselves up for an adventure that's packed with diverse experiences.

You mentioned wanting to explore cities with a bit more charm and character, steering clear of the super flashy and focusing on those "nice cities of smaller sizes." That's a brilliant approach to truly soaking in the essence of China! While the Terracotta Warriors are incredible, sometimes the most magical moments come from stumbling upon hidden gems and connecting with the local vibe. Think of it as curating your own personal highlight reel, filled with genuine moments and shared laughter with your squad. This journey is all about creating your own main character energy, exploring with open hearts and curious minds.

From Hong Kong, as you make your way towards Chengdu, consider Guangzhou for a taste of southern China's vibrant culture and incredible food scene – it's a city that pulses with energy but still offers plenty of pockets for exploration. Then, as you head from Chengdu to Beijing, there are some seriously cool stops that fit your vibe. Xi'an is a classic for a reason, and while you might skip the warriors, its ancient city walls offer an amazing cycling adventure, and the Muslim Quarter is a foodie paradise. Further north, cities like Luoyang offer a deep dive into China's ancient history with stunning temples and grottoes, all without the overwhelming scale of Beijing. This whole trip is shaping up to be pure sunshine and adventure, a true testament to the power of friendship and exploration!

From travel

Me and 3 of my buddies will be in China from mid-july to mid-august. We are landing in HK and spending a couple of days there and leaving from Beijing. We envisioned Chengdu at around the 14 day mark, and would like to know what cities would make sense to stop by on both the Guangzhou - Chengdu line, as well as the Chendgu - Beijing line.
