Daytrip to Narva, Estonia🇪🇪 (border with Ivangorod, Russia)

Our take

Embarking on a daytrip to Narva, Estonia, is an epic adventure you won’t want to miss! After spending three vibrant days in Tallinn, I decided to explore this unique border town, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the intersection of cultures. While the Narva Castle and museum take about three hours to explore, wandering the city and observing the border bridge adds a special touch to the experience.

Had 3 days in Tallinn a couple months ago and decided to spend one of them taking a daytrip to Narva. As someone that loves unique borders, it was super interesting and I thought it was worth losing a day in Tallinn.

Not too much to do aside from the castle and the museum, but those took me about 3 hours. Other than that, I just wandered around the city and observed the border bridge (has been closed to vehicle traffic since 2022, but plenty of people still cross on foot). 4th picture is the border checkpoint and 5th is from the top of Narva Castle.

I decided to rent a car for the day for 50€ because I wanted to stop at a couple of places along the way (Jagala waterfalls - 7th pic, and Sillamae - 8th pic), but with no stops it was about a 2.5 hours very straightforward drive. There is also a train from Tallinn. I’d recommend visiting if you have a day to spare in Estonia!
