I know some may think this is too much hopping, but I like to get a taste of a place and then go back another time if it blows me away. Have a rental car most of the trip.
If you have any off the beaten path places I should see drop them in... either restaurants, 'hidden' gems, or hiking trails.
Day 1 Fly into Lisbon- drive either to Sintra or Nazare (then to Sintra coast)
Day 2 back to Lisbon- stop along the way National Palace, etc.
Day 3 Lisbon- explore city
Day 4 Lisbon- more exploration then fly to Seville
Day 5 Seville- Alcalazar, other landmarks
Day 6 Cadiz/Tarifa or just Tarifa- either spend some time in Cadiz on beach or drive to Tarifa and do same + boat tour, maybe daytrip to Tangier
Day 7 Gibraltar- probably get a day pass and explore
Day 8 and 9 Ronda (and area)
Day 10 Granada- Alhambra
Day 11-13 Malaga- beach time, stop at a cave, Caminito Del Rey, explore Malaga
Fly back
Budget- mid range maybe $100 Euros/day

- Advice on stops between Lisbon to AlgarveHi all, I have the front and back end of my Portugal itinerary down, pasted below. I am torn on what to do in middle, namely on day 5 and 6. As you can see below my initial plan was to take the scenic route and stop in Alentejo region for two days/1 night. I've considered 1) making day 5 a Cascais day trip and just driving straight to Algarve on day 6 using the highway. or 2) making day 4 a day trip to Cascais, then day 5-6 an overnight in Sintra, then straight to Algarve. Other stops i've considered are Evora, though a little out of the way. Would love insight from anyone whos done a similar trip. With the four days in the Algarve, I'm interested in any suggestions that would bring diversity to the itinerary. ie Porto Covo feeling the same as Lagos would be helpful to know. Day 1 - arrive LIS 4:40pm Day 2 - explore Lisbon Day 3- more Lisbon Day 4 - Sintra day trip Day 5 - was going to drive Lisbon to Alentejo, stop overnight in Porto Covo Day 6 - Porto Covo daytime to Algarve Day 7- Algarve (lagos or carvoeiro) Day 8 - Algarve (Seven Hanging Valleys Trail hike) Day 9 - Algarve (SUP Bengali caves) Day 10- Algarve (another town) Day 11- check out, fly to next destination (London) I would say my partner and I love to do something active each day followed by some chill beach time. We come from a beach town so its not entirely novel to use, but do love a quintessential eruo summer vibe. Good food is always appreciated, but we dont really drink. - Itenary reviewHey! We are a 28 year old couple planning to visit Portugal in end of May . We are planning to rent a car for the entire duration of the trip. We are planning to do 4 nights Lisbon 2 nights Lagos 2 nights albuferia and 4 nights Marbella. We will be landing in Lisbon and even our departure airport will be the same and we plan to drive from Portugal to Spain and back. A little something about us - we love beaches, partying, trying Michelin restaurants , just walking around the town exploring and relaxing. - 2 weeks in Madrid & Andalusia Golden Triangle - what we did and how much we spentNobody asked for it and I normally don't track expenses to this level, but AI has made it much easier to pull from my credit card transactions. My travel spreadsheet is much more detailed than this, but I'm just posting the itinerary and total expenses here. Our travel style - DINK in late 30s, prefer walking, really love food but don't drink alcohol much (tapped out after the first glass). - Big planner with a "one main activity a day" mindset. Book Alcazar early as well (a week or two) or you'll stand in line for 1.5 hours like us on the day of. Bring your passports. - April is the ideal time to go. Sunny and hot, but lots of wind to cool you down. Plus the cities (except some parts of Seville where the horses roam) smell so good with all the orange blossoms. - Seville Fair really is an insider affair, especially for two foreign-looking kids lol but I'm glad we went. Kind of amazing to see people having fun and dancing. Pretty easy to identify public casetas and the drinks are not crazily marked up. The carnival was fun too. - Most places we went took credit cards. All and all we spent 100e in cash. - Granada restaurants/bars do give out free tapas with a drink, but the details vary place to place. For example, at Avila you can only choose the free tapa on the left side of the menu. Transportation - Book popular train/bus routes early to get the times you want, and for cheaper prices. - Keep refreshing and trying if the Renfe trains you want are not available. The Renfe app is horrible though, doesn't accept my US phone number (or any phone number, really) and wouldn't let me proceed, so use desktop if you can. - Do the math to see if the train or bus to Segovia works better for you. The train alone is faster, but you have to line up at least 30 minutes to catch the bus from town to the train station, whereas the bus to Madrid stops right in town. - Renfe stations can be confusing... you can be in front of your gate and the entrance will be on the other floor. If it's 10-15 minutes before departure time and the gate is empty, you're at the wrong place. Ask if you're not sure. - Bus can be much cheaper but takes longer. We usually opted for the train, except for the Granada -> Seville leg which takes the same amount of time.
