Does this dress suit me?

Does this dress suit me?

Everyone says this dress flatters me but I’m really struggling to see past my hips and lower stomach. Maybe a bigger size will help? It’s supposed to be loose and flowy (event is black tie optional, too, btw). I’ve gained weight/muscle over the years and I really struggle to figure out what suits this new body.
