Okay, squad! East Africa adventure calling, and you're looking to make it epic, right? It sounds like you've got an amazing opportunity to explore, and even with a shorter timeline, we can definitely help you craft a journey that’s bursting with sunshine and unforgettable moments. Don't sweat the travel agent's initial plan too much; think of it as a starting point, and let's inject some of that main character energy into it to make it truly yours! The goal is to balance incredible safari experiences with some much-needed chill time, all while keeping that adventurous spirit high. Your wish for a safari in Tanzania is totally understandable, but if availability is tricky, don't worry! East Africa is packed with other incredible spots that will give you that wild, breathtaking experience you're dreaming of. And for that relaxing end to your trip, Zanzibar is a fantastic choice, but you're smart to think about not overdoing the beach time. It’s all about finding that perfect mix.

Let's talk safari! You mentioned Tanzania, and it’s amazing, but if it’s not lining up, consider Kenya’s Maasai Mara or even Uganda for gorilla trekking – talk about an epic encounter! You’re right to be mindful of safari fatigue; it’s about quality over quantity. A focused, action-packed safari experience, maybe three to four days, will leave you buzzing with energy and ready for your next adventure, not feeling drained. Think about what you want to see most – is it the Great Migration (though June might be a bit early for the main event in the Mara), the Big Five, or unique landscapes? Once you hone in on that, you can find the perfect park that delivers. And for your starting point in Malawi, exploring Lake Malawi or Liwonde National Park sounds like a brilliant way to kick things off with some local charm and natural beauty before you even head into the bigger safari circuits.

For that well-deserved relaxation, Zanzibar is still a top contender! Beyond just the beaches, it offers a vibrant culture, delicious food, and historical sites like Stone Town. You can absolutely soak up the island vibes without spending every single day on the sand. Mix in exploring the spice tours, wandering through the old city, and enjoying some incredible seafood. Remember, this trip is about creating memories that glow, so even your downtime should feel enriching and fun. It’s all about embracing the journey, being bold with your choices, and trusting that you’ll find the perfect rhythm for your East African adventure. You’ve got this!

Myself and my partner are trying to plan a trip to East Africa at relatively short notice after an opportunity came up to visit in the second half of June (13th-25th). Neither of us have been before and we're finding it difficult to figure out the best option, we haven't had much spare time to plan so we contacted a travel agent and they recommended the plan below but we're not really happy with it:

The only stipulation is it has to begin in Malawi. What we'd like:
