First time solo travelling to Spain for 15 days, would love some advice
Our take
So I'll be travelling to Barcelona for a conference in May and decided to extend a trip to explore Spain as I've heard wonderful things about it's culture and cuisine. I've also heard that Catalonia and central/South Spain have a completely different culture, so planning to explore both.
My rough itinerary:
- Barcelona – 4 days
- Girona / Costa Brava – 3 days (planning to visit Lloret de Mar and Palafrugell, not sure where to base myself though)
- Valencia – 2 days
- Madrid – 3 days (with a day trip to Toledo or Segovia)
- Seville – 3 days (Would it be recommended to go on a day trip to Malaga or Granda)
- Barcelona – 1 day (before return flight)
This is my first time travelling solo for this long, I would appreciate advice/tips for travel between cities/Internal transport within cities(I'm paranoid about missing trains lmao), any train passes I should be considering, cost saving trips(I'm a 21 year old student), luggage advice, or food considerations(I love trying new food). I am also open to reconsidering the itinerary(But i don't want to miss out on Madrid and Sevilla atleast)
Planning to stay mostly in hostels. Happy to hear any general insights too(things you wish you'd known, some musts in specific cities, things to avoid etc...).

- Fall Spain trip itinerary planningHey travellers, Despite being an avid traveller, I’m having a hard time planning my trip to Spain for the fall (Oct 2026) I will be coming from Toronto to Barcelona, I have a conference in Barcelona for 4 days mid Oct, but I’m also interested in seeing Madrid and Andalusia (thinking of Córdoba, Seville and Granada) then flying out of Madrid. My plan is to do Barcelona, then Madrid, then Andalusia, then go back and leave from Madrid. The issue here is I don’t know how to base myself in Andalusia to see 3 cities. I thought about doing 1 night in Cordoba, 2 in Seville and 2 in Granada but I don’t know which city to start with, and what is the easiest way to go back to Madrid from one of those cities. I will also likely rely on trains to get between cities, but I’m open to private transfers if needed. Thanks all submitted by /u/vegeta_888 [link] [comments]
- Spain vs Spain + Portugal (15 days, mid-June) — itinerary feedback?Hi, I’ve been reading past threads, but I’m still unsure how to structure this trip and would really appreciate some feedback. Trip details: ~15 days total (mid-June, somewhat flexible) Flying from the US (likely into Barcelona, out of Lisbon) Budget: mid-range (mix of hotels + occasional nicer stays) Interests: food, walkable cities, history, some architecture, not big on rushing or checking boxes What I’ve researched so far: I came up with two rough options: Option A (Spain only): Barcelona (4 days) Madrid (3 days) Seville (3–4 days) Granada (2 days) Option B (Spain + Portugal): Barcelona (3–4 days) Seville (3 days) Lisbon (3 days) Porto (2–3 days) My questions: Does Option B feel too rushed given the travel time between Spain and Portugal? If sticking to Spain, would you prioritize Granada over somewhere like Valencia or more time in Madrid? Any adjustments you’d make to improve pacing? submitted by /u/Existential_boba9352 [link] [comments]
