Facing a flight cancellation can be frustrating, especially when it involves multiple airlines.

Oh wow, what an absolute whirlwind of a situation for our friend, u/montyb752! Getting stuck between airlines when you're just trying to get to the UK is definitely not the kind of adventure we’re all about. It sounds like a real bummer, and we totally get that feeling of being a bit lost in the shuffle. When your plans get flipped upside down like this, it's natural to feel a little stressed, but let's channel some of that main character energy and see if we can find some sunshine through the clouds.

First off, let's remember that even though this is a tricky spot, it doesn't mean you're out of options! Think of this as a detour, not a dead end. The most important thing right now is to keep your cool and remember your own power to navigate this. Since Emirates is saying the Malaysian Airlines ticket number isn't working, and you're advised to wait for the Malaysian Airlines desk to open, that's a clear next step. While waiting can feel like an eternity, use that time to gather all your documentation – booking confirmations, cancellation notices, and any communication you’ve had with either airline. Every little piece of paper is a clue to solving this epic puzzle!

Now, about paying for the flight and claiming it back – that’s a smart thought! It's definitely worth exploring if this is a possibility. Sometimes, when airlines make significant changes or cancellations, there are policies in place to help passengers. You could try contacting Emirates directly, explaining the situation and asking if they can accommodate you by allowing you to pay for the new ticket and providing a receipt that would allow for a claim from Malaysian Airlines. Keep a record of all conversations, including dates, times, and the names of the people you speak with. If you can't get a clear answer or a solution from Emirates on the spot, make sure to get a clear statement from them on *why* they can't accept the ticket number and what the process is for rebooking. This will be crucial evidence if you need to escalate the issue later. Don't feel like you're "screwed" – you're just on a quest for a solution, and with a bit of persistence and positivity, you'll find your way through this! Keep that adventurous spirit alive, and remember to lean on your squad if you need to – even if your squad is just us, cheering you on!

My flights from Kuala Lumpur to the UK with Malaysian airlines were cancelled and moved to Emirates. I tried to book in at the airport as advised by Malaysian airlines when I couldn’t book in online.

Emirates are saying the ticket number from Malaysian airlines is not capable with their system and we have to wait 7hrs until the Malaysian airlines desk opens.
