Guatemala Bound: Chasing Spanish and Adventure for Three Months!

¡Hola, adventurers! Get ready to dive into an epic journey as we explore Guatemala, a land bursting with vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, and the exciting challenge of mastering Spanish! Our friend Foxtrotrider is setting off on a three-month expedition, and we are SO here for it. This isn't just a trip; it's a full-on immersion into a new world, packed with potential for growth, discovery, and unforgettable memories. Imagine waking up to the sounds of Antigua, ready to conquer new Spanish vocabulary, and then the whole country is your playground for the next two months. Talk about living your best main character life! This kind of bold move is exactly what we’re all about – embracing the unknown and letting curiosity lead the way.

Now, let’s talk about that little hiccup with the flight dates. A 91-day adventure instead of 90? A classic travel plot twist! While it might seem like a small detail, it brings up a fun challenge for our intrepid explorer. Should they change the ticket and potentially face extra costs, or embrace the extra day and figure it out on the ground? This is where the spirit of adventure truly shines. Instead of seeing it as a problem, think of it as an opportunity for a spontaneous detour or an extended exploration of Guatemala City. It’s all about adapting and making the most of every moment, turning a potential snag into another exciting chapter of the journey. This is the kind of positive energy that makes travel so rewarding, and we can’t wait to see how Foxtrotrider tackles this!

The beauty of this trip lies not just in the destination, but in the intention. The goal to reach a low intermediate level of Spanish is fantastic, and what better way to achieve it than by surrounding yourself with the language every single day? Antigua is the perfect starting point, offering a rich cultural experience and a solid foundation for language learning. But the real magic happens when you leave the itinerary open. Lake Atitlan, exploring hidden gems across the country, or even a quick hop to El Salvador – these are the unplanned adventures that often become the most cherished. It’s this blend of structured learning and spontaneous exploration that creates a truly epic experience, fostering creativity, building confidence, and forging connections. We’re sending all the good vibes and sunshine your way, Foxtrotrider! May your three months in Guatemala be filled with endless discoveries and unstoppable progress!

From travel

I booked my flight a couple weeks ago for a three month trip to Guatemala. I’m super excited and I really hope to reach low intermediate level Spanish. This will be my first trip to Guatemala, but I’ve been to Colombia a number of times, including some Spanish School there last summer.

I’ve booked an Airbnb and a Spanish School for the first month in Antigua and I’m leaving the second two months open in case I want to go to Lake Atitlan and study there, travel around the country, dip over to El Salvador, etc.
