I honestly just need perspective from people who travel a lot because I’m spiraling a bit.
I’m currently in Paris for a conference, then heading to the Netherlands, and after that I had planned a solo Slovenia trip I’ve been dreaming about for ages. Yesterday I twisted my ankle and now walking is painful. I can still bear weight, but it hurts more today and I’m terrified I’m going to ruin the trip or make it worse.
What’s hitting me emotionally is that this happened last year too, except it was severe back pain. I had to cancel most of my plans and lost a lot of money. I think this ankle thing is triggering all that disappointment again.
I keep feeling guilty, like:
“why wasn’t I more careful?”
“why does this always happen before trips?”
“I should just push through it so I don’t waste money/opportunities”
And I know logically injuries happen, but emotionally I’m struggling not to catastrophize and feel like I’ve ruined everything again.
