how hard is solo travel without a car in Kyrgyzstan? (going to Uzbekistan also, route attached)
Our take
Hi,
thanks in advance for any help. So I’d like to do a joint trip to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in June. I attached an itinerary below. It seems like Uzbekistan is pretty straightforward since the most common tourist circuit is bigger cities. The Kyrgyzstan part is more concerning. Are there public transportation options? Are tours generally needed if you’re not renting a car. Any advice or help is appreciated. I have the itinerary below and would love feedback on it also and what to take out and what to put in. I can add days and I like culture, nature and hiking.
Day 1 – arrive in Tashkent to khiva
Day 2 – Khiva – night bus to Bukhara
day 3 – bukhara
day 4 – bukhara to samarkand
day 5 – samarkand
day 6 – samarkand to Tashkent (night train so 2 days in samarkand)
day 7 – Tashkent
day 8 – tashkent to Bishkek
day 9 – day trip to ala artscha
day 10 – Bishkek to son kul
day 11 – son kul
day 12 – son kul to kok kiya valley
day 13 – kok kiya valley
day 14 – kok kiya valley to issyk kul
day 15 – issyk kul
day 16 – issyk kil to karakl
day 17 – 19 or 20? some sort of hiking in karakul
day 21 or whatever it is – karakul to Bishkek
day 22 – flight out
Any advice or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

- Questions about traveling to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, or UzbekistanI want to take a ~3 week vacation to either Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, or Uzbekistan. I really like hiking and landscapes. I know 3 weeks isn't enough time for all 4 countries, so I am trying to pick 2 or 3 of them. My initial thought was probably Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan because it looks like those are more nature focused. I'm not sure if it would then be possible to squeeze in Uzbekistan for the culture. Can anyone give me suggestions on which countries? And also things not to miss out on. Thanks! submitted by /u/staticpixel [link] [comments]
- Kyrgyzstan - Private driver recommendations and what can’t done with public transportationhello, i am visiting kyrgyzstan in two weeks for the first time and organizing transportation seems so hard since I’m getting conflicting information online Here is the transportation I need: bishkek to son kul. My hostel said i can take a mini bus from bishkek to kochkor and then another mini bus from kochkor to son kul. Another person said private driver only. Anyone here do it and have any information? son kul to kok kiya. I think this one has to be private transfer. Any one have driver recommendations? kok koya to karakol. Same as number 2 above. I think private driver is mandatory. Any recommendations? I doubt i can use the same driver as from #2 karakol to bishkek. I tread there are daily buses and this one is not a problem. Is that accurate? Thanks so much for any help! i can’t wait to visit and just need transportation sorted submitted by /u/31rise [link] [comments]
