Indonesia travel timeline suggestion
Our take
So I’m planning a trip to Indonesia this coming July, the problem that I’m having with planning my trip is that most other places that I’ve been to in Southeast Asia for example two weeks is enough time to see 2-3 different parts within a country for example in Thailand, Vietnam, or the Philippines.
It seems as though this isn’t the case for Indonesia, I’m seeing in general the recommendations for places like Sulawesi, Raja Ampat, or Sumatra alone are two weeks at least. In two weeks I did siargao, siquijor, el nido and coron in the Philippines for example.
We have 16 nights to visit so I’m imagining an itinerary somewhat as follows:
4 nights (3 full days) in Java
8 nights (7 full days) in Raja Ampat
4 nights (2 full days) in Bali
July 16 - Fly to Bali
July 17 - Landing in Bali 10pm
July 18 - Bali -> Java
July 19 - Java
July 20 - Java
July 21 - Java
July 22 - Java -> Raja ampat
July 23 - Raja ampat
July 24 - Raja ampat
July 25 - Raja ampat
July 26 - Raja ampat
July 27 - Raja ampat
July 28 - Raja ampat
July 29 - Raja ampat
July 30 - Raja ampat -> Bali
July 31 - Bali
August 1 - Bali
August 2 - fly home
Is this timeline feasible? Obviously we aren’t very interested in the hype around Bali but would like to atleast see some main parts.
We love snorkeling but aren’t professional divers, are looking for nice beaches, islands, scenery so would Sulawesi or Sumatra be better for that over Raja Ampat?

- Help Planning a 10d Indonesia tripHi!! I’m aware that this is not NEARLY enough time to visit Indonesia, but my friend and I are 23 and will be in Indonesia from Oct 31 to November 10 th , and are trying to plan the best trip. We arrive in Bali on the 31st Oct early afternoon, leave from Bali on the 10th Nov evening. Want: - Active/adventures (snorkeling, jetskiing, jeep tours, sunrise hikes, waterfalls) - A bit of Nightlife is okay! savaya in Uluwatu looks cool - okay with a a more packed trip Don’t care for: - Canggu - temples/historical sights (we’re seen a lot of those on previous travels and just looking for a bit more outdoor activity as opposed to sightseeing) - we’re not pro trekkers - don’t really care for hostels/hostel life. We like a bit more privacy I was thinking Bali > two days East Java trip to see bromo/waterfalls > uluwatu > Can anyone reccomend specific experiences or an itinerary that makes sense? Specifically am considering swapping out some things to include a Liveboard Komodo Cruise, Amed, Sidemen, or Ubud. There’s so much this country has to offer and it’s a shame I only get 10 days of PTO. submitted by /u/Effective_Speech_855 [link] [comments]
- Indonesia need advice - first time goerHello adventurers, A friend and I are planning a 1 month trip in indonesia. I am researching about places and getting overwhealmed the longer I do it so came here to ask: What would be a good trip to do for 2 backpackers moderate budget, wanting to mix culture, hiking, wildlife, social beach/chill/party. I was thinking 10 days central/east Java, 10 days sulawesi (dont know what or where though), and then close of with 10 days of islands east of bali. In java id like to experience nature/hike, check out temples, but also explore without strong plan. Was thinking of renting a motorbike. In Sulawesi the same. In islands east of bali to see the wildlife but also chill socializing. Not looking for influencer experience but more classic backpacking. I am trying to have couple of targets to see in each place although would like to have time in between to move around so that I am not rushing. My questions are: Is this duable in a month so that I am not rushing? Is it a good round trip as I am landing first in Jakharta? Can I be fully on motorbike in Java and Sulawesi or do I need to depend on other means of transportation? Islands east of Bali, is it better to go for 1/2 islands to see wildlife but also chill with locals rather then just island hop for 10 days? If so, which islands shluld I check out? Should I change my plans as 10 days for each might be too short to immerse? Ps. I do know 10 days sometimes aint enough to really experience a place. Its my first time and trying to get a mixture of settling in and going around. Thank you thank you! submitted by /u/TapTouch [link] [comments]
- Backpacking Southeast Asia July & August (6weeks)Hey :) I have six weeks to spend in July & August. I would like to surf, chill at the beach, do self care (spa), maybe do my diving license, and some hiking/nature stuff. But I’d also like to have a social environment where I can go to hostels to meet people (because I am travelling solo). I have already been in east-Malaysia, Lombok, Bali, Java, Flores and I wanna explore something new. Because it’s my only time off throughout the year good weather is quite important to me, which made me think Indonesia is the only appropriate place for me to go to but I’ve exhausted my indonesia options I feel like. I am so confused. Central vietnam would have been a good place but it’s less of a beach-vibe I think. What would be a good place to go to? What do yall advise me? - Help with Indonesia tripHi, I want to solo travel to Indonesia for two weeks. From my research there are a lot of itineraries that involve full time trekking, swimming and lots of nature in general. I am more of a city vibe. Ideally I would love to move from one city to another and do day trips (nature, water activities, even trekking), i am also into food and sightseeing. Could you please recommend me few cities that would allow me to do what I just described for two weeks? Thanks!! submitted by /u/makimax7 [link] [comments]
