JFK Terminal 8 3/28/26
Our take
Traveling through JFK Terminal 8 for an early morning flight can be quite the adventure! Arriving at 2:30 AM for a 7:25 AM flight, I faced some initial confusion as bag drop and security lines didn’t open until 3:30 AM. Thankfully, with TSA PreCheck, I breezed through security in about 35 minutes, while the regular line was long but efficient once it opened. Although I waited at my gate for three hours, the peace of mind was totally worth it!
Got to airport at 2:30 am for 7:25 am flight. Bag drop and security lines did not open until 3:30. Lots of confusion about which line to be in. We had TSA pre check and were through security in about 35 mins. Regular security line was long, but moved once opened. Did I wait at my gate for 3 hours? Yes. Was it worth my peace of mind to make my plane? Yes!
As a side: note off site parking was a nightmare. We had a reservation and still were told the lot was full. We tried 2 other parking lots before giving up and parking in a long term lot at airport. Use the AirTrain at Lefferts Blvd. Easy to get to the terminals.
