Just visited Portovenere & Tellaro (felt way more relaxed than Cinque Terre)
Our take
I recently explored the stunning gems of Portovenere and Tellaro, and wow, what a refreshing experience! Unlike the bustling Cinque Terre, these charming coastal spots radiate a serene, local vibe that instantly puts you at ease. Portovenere’s colorful buildings and Tellaro’s tranquil seaside atmosphere create the perfect backdrop for relaxation. With fewer crowds and a laid-back ambiance, it's an authentic taste of the Italian Riviera.
I was in this part of the Italian Riviera recently and ended up spending time in Portovenere and Tellaro, and honestly I didn’t expect to like it this much.
Both places have that same colorful coastal vibe, but felt way calmer and more local. Tellaro especially was super quiet, just people hanging out by the sea, no rush, no big crowds.
Cinque Terre is obviously beautiful, but it felt a bit too packed when I went. This area felt like a more authentic version of that same coastline.
If anyone’s planning a trip and wants something similar but less crowded I’d definitely recommend looking into this side of Liguria.
