Ljubljana or Brasov: Your Epic Solo Hiking Adventure Awaits!

Are you torn between Ljubljana and Brasov for your solo summer adventure in Europe?

Planning a 6 week trip through Europe this summer and deciding on where to stop between Prague and Split. I'm between Ljubljana and Brasov for a main purpose of seeing some mountains and doing some light/moderate hikes.

Ljubljana makes more sense logistically (it's on the way), plus Ive heard its better for tourists in terms of making friends. But Ive never been anywhere like Romania and Im super interested in the mountains, the iron curtain history, and the medieval castles. I'm less interested in what Ljubljana has to offer, but it seems like a better alternative for a mountain town as a solo female traveler.

My hesitations for Brasov are:
- Id have to fly in/out of Bucharest and take a bus or a train to Brasov, and Im not sure I can rely on the infrastructure. Plus theres minimal direct flights into Split.
- Ive heard the hostels in Brasov are mostly occupied by men on business trips or doing digital nomad stuff. I dont mind that, but I want to make friends my own age and I want to feel safe where Im staying.

Central Europe Solo Adventure: Your Ultimate Two-Week Rail Guide

I've done a lot of travelling so I wanted to try my first solo (at least for part of it) trip next summer and was starting to think about Central Europe. I was planning on going for around two weeks, with a very rough route of Krakow-Prague-Cesky Krumlow-Bratislava-Budapest-Ljubljana-Lake Bled - I'm pretty set on the countries. Was planning on mostly trains for travel and hostels for accomodation, trying to keep more budget. I would probably be going late June/early July time or late August/early September to avoid peak times. I like nature, hiking, history, food so most things would interest me. Would especially like advice for Slovakia because I know very little about it, but any advice would be welcome (especially if there's anywhere that's more unsafe as I'll be a solo female traveller). Slovenia Solo: A First-Time Adventure for Water, Culture, and Small Towns

I’m going to Slovenia for a week as a 30 year old female solo traveller. It will be my first time traveling alone out of my own country (the US). I love spending solo days swimming in natural water (waterfalls, swimming holes, rivers, lakes) and seeing culture / shopping/ wandering. I tend to dislike cities, but enjoy small cultural towns. I’ve been looking into lake bohinj and soca valley which look great. I think I want to skip lake bled for something else. I’m not sure what else to do or where to go.
