Long-term travel insurance? (UK)

Our take

Hey guys! 👋 I’m currently on an epic six-month backpacking journey, having kicked things off in Thailand and now exploring China! 🌍 My original travel insurance is set to expire, and since I’m planning to continue my adventures long-term, I need some guidance. Can I purchase a new policy while abroad? Are there options for monthly payments with worldwide coverage? I’ll be back in the UK for a few weeks in August but will be heading out again.

Hey guys 👋

I planned a 6 month backpacking trip at the start of this year, flew to Thailand in January and have been travelling ever since, currently in China.

I originally purchased a 6 months of “backpacker” travel insurance for around £550 (pre-existing medial conditions + high value item cover 🙃)

I’m now not planning on returning home after 6 months and instead will be travelling long-term for an indefinite period. I’ll probably be in the UK for around 3 weeks in August and then I leave again.

How exactly does this work with travel insurance? My existing insurance is going to run out while i’m still travelling, can I take out a new policy while abroad? Is there any type of insurance where I can pay monthly and be covered? It would need to be worldwide as I will be travelling everywhere

Any information is really appreciated ❤️
