Madeira or Slovenia? Last minute trip!
Our take
I’m (36F) booking a VERY last-minute international trip and could use some input. I just realized I have nearly $2.5k in airline credits about to expire, and I happen to have 10 days off this month (April 20-30) so now I’m spiraling trying to pick a destination.
Right now I’m deciding between Madeira and Slovenia and would love any suggestions or opinions.
I’m traveling from SFO with my partner. We are pretty active, and mainly looking for incredible nature. We’re happy to stay on the go and do moderate hikes, not really focused on partying, but good food is definitely important.
From what I’ve seen, both look amazing weather-wise, but Madeira seems a bit warmer, which is appealing.
Would love to hear any experiences, recommendations, or thoughts on choosing between the two!

- Having trouble deciding between Croatia and Portugal - May 2026I’m looking to do a solo trip (22F) for a week following graduation. I worked for an airline in college and studied abroad in France so have gotten a good taste for (western) Europe, but I never made it to Portugal or Croatia. I enjoy beautiful scenery, activities (but not crazy hiking), accessible public transport, good food, and not feeling overwhelmed by too many other tourists. I haven’t come up with much of a plan for either place. Would fly into and out of Dubrovnik; would fly into Lisbon and out of Porto. 8 nights. I’m on a mindful budget, and the flight costs are the same. Would appreciate any insight into which location for end of May!! submitted by /u/No_Public_9342 [link] [comments]
- Solo Trip: Slovenia or Faroe Islands?Hi all! I am a 29F from the US. I am considering a solo trip in Mid October, since I will already be in Europe for a wedding. I have been to many of my bucket list destinations in Europe and am wanting to try somewhere new and off the beaten path a little. So, I am trying to narrow it down between Slovenia (Lake Bled) and the Faroe Islands. I would say I am outside-y not outdoorsy as in I like a walk outside, maybe a hike or two, but nothing crazy. Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions! submitted by /u/bookdragon1331 [link] [comments]
