My trip to Prague (CZ) - March 2026
Our take

| I’m not much of a photographer, but I love sharing memories from my travels. It was my first time in the Czech Republic, and I have to say we really enjoyed the four-day trip to Prague that my wife and I did. As for activities, here’s what we did: - City tour: There’s a lot to see; the architecture alone is impressive, and the many parks are also very pleasant. - Prague Zoo: It’s very large—plan to spend the whole day exploring it from start to finish. Admission costs about $14 USD. The animals have plenty of space; they aren’t crammed into small cages, and you can tell they’re in good health. - Traditional restaurants: Be careful here—there are many tourist traps. Keep in mind that a pint of Czech beer shouldn’t cost more than 80–100 CZK (US$4), and meals are also inexpensive in traditional restaurants; expect to pay around US$15–20 for two (a main course and a beer, for example). - Prague’s Secret Alchemical Laboratories: A short but very fascinating tour, and very well explained. I’ve included a few photos of the place—it’s where alchemists of the time tried to turn lead into gold! The tour costs 200 CZK (US$9) per person, I believe, payable in cash only. - Tour of the area around Prague Castle: Packed with tourists, but the views are magnificent, and the buildings are incredible. Unfortunately, four days isn't very long, but if you get the chance to go, it's an inexpensive destination in Europe—hotels are cheap, and the cost of living there is affordable (the average monthly salary for locals is $1,100 USD). Thanks for reading, and I hope the photos aren't too harsh on the eyes! [link] [comments] |

- Spending 4 days in Prague. What shouldn’t we miss ?So me and my wifeare heading to Prague for 4 days, staying right in the city center, super pumped about it. We've been looking at doing a day trip to Bohemian Switzerland NP and honestly the photos look insane. But I have no idea how to get there. Is there a bus that goes directly or do we have to rent a car? Would love to avoid renting one if possible but if it's really worth it we'd consider it. Also more generally, 4 days, early 30s couple, we're into good food, some history, nature, and walking. What are we absolutely NOT allowed to miss? In Prague or nearby, we're open to more day trips if there's something cool around. Bonus points if it's something slightly off the beaten path, we're not huge fans of standing in line with 500 other tourists lol submitted by /u/Potential-Anybody682 [link] [comments]
- A day spent exploring Karlovy Vary, CzechiaWe recently celebrated my girlfriend’s birthday and for her gift, I arranged for us to spend a weekend away at a wellness hotel in Czechia (Kadaň). We currently live in eastern Germany so naturally decided it would be easiest for us to drive. On Sunday morning after checking out of our hotel, we were eager to continue exploring and as such decided we would stop for lunch in Karlovy Vary on our way back through to Germany. We didn’t quite know what to expect before we arrived. Neither of us had heard much about the town, however we expected the old town would be beautiful, as it is with most European cities. To say we were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. It seemed the town was lifted straight out of a fairy tale. Ancient cobbled streets filled with colourful buildings, seemingly crammed in to every nook and cranny with no sense of order or cohesion. Steep streets and narrow alleyways willing you to explore and get lost in its majesty. I’ve been lucky enough to travel all over the world in the last few years and I can honestly nowhere has ever caught me off guard quite like Karlovy Vary did this past weekend. I hope I managed to capture some of the magic of the place in these photos. I would urge everyone to visit if they can. I know I can’t wait to return. submitted by /u/slaughterjack123 [link] [comments]
