okinawa travels in june
Our take
hiii! I’m looking for advice on traveling to Okinawa in June.
I’m planning a longer trip, probably at least 2 weeks, though the exact length isn’t confirmed yet. I’m thinking of visiting just a few places in Okinawa rather than trying to cover too much, and I’m not sure whether it’s better to stay in the city area first or head straight to smaller towns and base myself there.
How is the weather in June? From what I’ve read, it seems like it’s the rainy season, so I’m wondering how disruptive that usually is for travel. Is it still manageable for sightseeing and beach activities, or should I expect a lot of indoor time?
I’d also love recommendations on where to stay and what to do, especially for a slower-paced trip. Since I’ll have a couple of weeks, I’m open to staying in one or two bases instead of moving around too much.
side note, im looking to dive in okinawa, any must go spots? or better areas to stay closer to the diving spots?
Lastly, I’m trying to figure out the budget. If I stay for around 3 weeks, would SGD 2,500 be enough for accommodation, food, local transport, and activities, excluding flights?
Any advice would be really appreciated!

- Okinawa to ?Hi there, I’m doing a 3 week stay in Japan (May 29-June 17) and I’m starting in Okinawa. I am confused where to go after that. I see that Takachiho Gorge is overrated (darn). I debated Nagasaki but it’s far and not sure about logistics. I want to spend a good chunk of time in Tokyo and have some time for Kyoto and Osaka but 3 weeks gives me plenty of time to do that. Any suggestions of more local cities I could explore? I am seeing a rugby game in Tokyo June 6 and I do have my IDP but I’d prefer not to drive. I love train and ferry rides. I do like off the beaten path and smaller towns, I’m open to anything. Also any Okinawa/Tokyo/Kyoto accommodations are greatly appreciated (max $100/night)! At this point only plane tickets are bought haha, thank you! submitted by /u/K_K92 [link] [comments]
- Okinawa? Thailand?Hi. I have two weeks in October, me and my partner are trying to decide between the two. Thailand is my dream destination but we went to Tokyo last year for only 5 days (airline benefits 😅) but felt disappointed with our short-lived experience and want to go back to Japan. But we are also really interested in exploring Bangkok/Koh Samui/Koh Tao. We were looking into going back to Japan and also flying to Okinawa after spending a week at one of the major areas on the mainland (for shopping, food, etc.) probably not Tokyo as we did that already. We really can’t pick between the two, and two weeks isn’t enough for both🤣. Background info, we love swimming/snorkelling/beach and are Canadian. Also been to Hawaii and Nice, France and we absolutely loved the ocean. Thoughts? submitted by /u/Fresh-Fan-1835 [link] [comments]
