Sometimes, the most amazing journeys are the ones that defy expectations! When our community member, Live_Studio_Emu, shared their Perth adventure, it started with a little bit of doubt from friends who didn't quite see the appeal beyond the famous quokkas. But guess what? Perth totally came through and delivered an absolutely epic introduction to Australia! It’s a reminder that sometimes, we just need to trust our gut and dive headfirst into an experience, even if others are a bit unsure. This trip is a shining example of how stepping off the beaten path can lead to the most incredible discoveries.

The real magic of Perth seems to unfold when you venture a little beyond the city center. From the sprawling green oasis of Kings Park to the charming wild kangaroos on Heirisson Island, there's so much to explore right in town. But the true gems? They're found in the vibrant port town of Fremantle, with its artistic vibe and a market that serves up the best flat white ever! And let’s not forget Cottesloe Beach, where the west coast sunsets are totally breathtaking. Imagine enjoying fish and chips by the sea for your final night – what a perfect way to cap off an unforgettable adventure! It’s these moments, these little bursts of sunshine and good times, that make travel so incredibly rewarding.

And the adventure doesn't stop there! Further afield, the Pinnacles Desert is like stepping onto another planet, with its otherworldly rock formations and skies so clear you can see the Milky Way with your own eyes. Talk about an epic night sky! For those seeking a more relaxed pace, the vineyards and food scenes of Margaret River and Swan Valley offer a chance to unwind and gather some unique souvenirs. Even the classic Rottnest Island day trip, with its iconic quokkas and bike-friendly paths, lives up to the hype. Perth is proving to be a destination packed with diverse experiences, from stunning natural beauty to a thriving local culture, and it’s definitely a place that deserves more than just a quick peek!

When I first told my Australian friend I was going to Perth, they were a bit confused as to why, and almost thought I was joking. I had the same reaction when I told other friends, who didn’t really know much about the place beyond the quokka on Rottnest Island, but didn’t see what else was there to make it worth spending 11 days. It almost made me doubt myself and reschedule to go somewhere else entirely. Almost.

Cape Town Adventures: Sunshine, Squads, and a Week of Epic Vibes
Cape Town. Went with friends for a week (23 March - 5 April), flew from Cyprus (1200$ for both sides). First thing everyone tells you when you arrive, don’t walk at night. After few days you kind of get the rhythm of it. Nice street, then one block over it’s completely different, then nice again. Nothing bad actually happened to us. But I noticed I keep checking over my shoulder even in touristy places and I didn’t really like that about myself. Landscape makes up for a lot of it tho. We drove to Cape of Good Hope. I thought my whole life this is the southernmost point of Africa. It’s not. Actual southern tip is Cape Agulhas, few hours east. But Cape of Good Hope is where it feels like the end. Cliff, wind, two oceans, nothing between you and Antarctica. Two lighthouses there because the first one kept getting lost in fog and ships crashed anyway. On the way back, we went to Boulders Beach with penguins. They was on the sand between tourists. Knee-high, make a sound exactly like donkey. In Table Mountain park we saw dassies. Look like fat hamsters size of a cat. Someone told me later their closest living relative is elephant. I don’t fully believe this even after googling. Wine country is basically different country. 1 hour from Cape Town and you’re in something like Provence but with better mountains. Stellenbosch, Franschhoek. Did three wineries in one day which is too many, by the third one I couldn’t tell the wines apart and was just nodding. Food was the real surprise, tasting menu at one place in Franschhoek cost less than mediocre lunch in Amsterdam. We sat outside, clouds were spilling over the mountain ridge like pouring off a table, stayed three hours. Kirstenbosch botanical garden is on the back side of Table Mountain. Went to just chill on the grass. Two geese walked up and stood near us for like half an hour, no reason. Thing I keep thinking about since we came back. Cape Town is the first place I’ve been where the city, the wilderness and the fear all sit on top of each other. You can see a whale from a vineyard. You can have a world class dinner and then not walk home from the restaurant. Still not sure how I feel about it honestly. Now trying to figure out where to go next and I really think just to return in Cape Town. Anyone been to Cape Town and has recs I missed? Sydney Escape: A Spontaneous Adventure & Sunshine State of Mind
This was an impromptu trip as I just wanted to go somewhere far and escape from reality for some time. I looked at the map and choose Sydney. I knew Sydney was popular and wanted to go there sometime anyways. Sydney did not disappoint. Beautiful weather, amazing landscape, great food, and friendly people. Although the prices such as food / accommodation were definitely on the higher side, I think it is worth going. People say Sydney is overrated but I think that is just bs. Sydney is beautiful, but not just the opera house but its surrounding areas such as the Royal Botanic Gardens, Bondi Beach, Manly (North Head), Blue Mountains. I took lots of photos, and had to handpick a few good looking ones. Looking at these photos I want to go there again. I think my photography skills improved a lot.
