Phoenix Mountain Trip in Shenzhen, China

Our take

Last Saturday, my friend and I embarked on an unforgettable adventure to Phoenix Mountain in Shenzhen, China. With perfect weather, we were excited to pay our respects to the God of Wealth, believed to bring good fortune to visitors. Entering through a quieter side gate, we enjoyed a secluded, winding trail that added to the excitement. The stunning scenery and serene temple made the hour-long trek worthwhile. Don’t forget to grab incense at the entrance! If you're in Shenzhen, this vibrant experience is a must-visit!

My friend and I went on Saturday. The weather was great. We heard there's a God of Wealth at Phoenix Mountain, so we planned to pay our respects, as it's said that worshipping the God of Wealth brings good fortune. We entered through a side gate, so it wasn't crowded. The path felt like a secluded, winding trail. The God of Wealth is located halfway up the mountain. If you enter through the main gate, it takes about 20 minutes to climb the stairs to reach him. Since we entered through the side gate, it took us about an hour. There's a shop at the entrance where you can buy incense specifically for the God of Wealth; about six sticks cost $1. I didn't take any pictures of the God of Wealth because someone nearby said that you shouldn't photograph deities. There's also a large pond; I don't know if it's filled with turtles, but people exchange coins and throw them in, supposedly to bring good fortune. The scenery and the temple are quite nice. I recommend it if you're in Shenzhen.
