Planning to stop in Mostar from Dubrovnik to Split drive - need suggestions/guidance

I'm headed to Croatia next week, starting in Dubrovnik for few days and then planning to drive to Split. I was thinking about getting a rental and stopping in Mostar on the way to Split. I've traveled a lot in Europe but this will be first time renting and driving solo in Europe. I've been researching online and here, and now confused if it makes sense to just take bus or ferry from Dub-->Split, and then rent a car in Split to do day trip to Mostar. Couple or questions:
- I'm reading the border crossings can take few hours. Will it be this bad mid April, which is technically off peak time?
- any other must see or doable stops on the drive from Dubrovnik ->Mostar->Split that I can fit in the day?
anything else to keep in mind about getting a rental or driving in general in Europe? I'm looking at using discovercars which seems to be highly reliable from
what I've read so far.

I'm thinking about ditching Sarajevo and staying one more day in Mostar. That would also save 5 hours of driving time. - Croatia itinerary doable?I booked a flight to Croatia for 12 days where I land at 4pm in Dubrovnik and fly out at noon so this gives me 10 full days. I don't really have crazy expectations just booked it on a whim, but my logic here is to immediately go to Split from Dubrovnik on arrival day and work my way back to Dubrovnik. So far on my tentative list I have - Split - Hvar - Dubrovnik - Plitvice - Kotor - Mostar I recognize that's a lot and looking to see where I can optimize day trips and also relax or potentially shave time on certain things. I'm pretty well traveled so getting around is not an issue and I'm not a budget traveler so I'm ok in what appears to be pretty overpriced (relatively) places like Old Town Dubrovnik and Hvar. I'm just looking for relaxing beaches, good food and beautiful scenery as I like to photograph. So any recommendations for like overlooks or spots to capture great photography are appreciated. I'm a pretty youthful late 30s so while I'm not trying to party like a 20yr old I'm fine with a little bit of going out and I know Croatia can be big on nightlife so as long as it isn't the equivalent of a college bar I'm ok with nightlife recommendations as well. - 6 day Croatia Itinerary - Split to DubrovnikHi everyone, my significant other and I are traveling from the US to Croatia in May for a week. We are flying into Split and out of Dubrovnik. No particular travel pet peeves or special focuses we have; we like history, food, nature, relaxation. We arenât on a really tight budget but not ultra high end travelers either. I am happy to drive a car if needed and can drive manual, but it seems for our trip ferry may make more sense. Given our limited timeline, we donât want to squeeze too much in though I know this will be a decent amount to tackle. I was told this itinerary would be doable from people who have been before, it seems consistent with some guides Iâve seen online, and Iâve tried to read through as many Croatia posts in r/travel as I can, but I wanted to ask if anyone had feedback! Split 2 nights, Hvar 2 nights, Dubrovnik 2 nights Sun 5/10 land in Split midday; walk around, tour palace; sleep in Split Mon 5/11 Krka day trip? - 2 weeks in Croatia in June. Too little time?I'm wanting to take advantage of Juneteenth and 4th of July weekend for a 2 week trip somewhere. I'm kind of set on Croatia because I've never been and thought a coastal destination in Europe in June sounded appealing. Is 2 weeks enough? Should I squeeze in Montenegro? I was thinking Dubrovnik > Split > Hvar > Kotor in no particular order. Seems like from Florida getting to and from Dubrovnik is the easiest route. I'm not a budget traveler (although ideally don't want to pay a ton for flights) and it's definitely not the cheapest option but it seems like it'd be nice to visit.
