Probably beaten to death, but here’s some of my favorites from my two weeks in Tokyo
Our take
After six years in the making, my wife and I finally embarked on our much-anticipated trip to Tokyo! Originally planned for the cherry blossom season in 2020, our adventure was delayed due to COVID and various life changes. We explored the classic route—two nights in Tokyo, followed by Osaka, Kyoto, and back to Tokyo for a week. Despite the expected crowds and favorable currency exchange rates, the experience was unforgettable.

| This trip was about 6 years in the making for my wife and I. We initially had planned and booked tickets for the cherry blossom season in 2020 but that was derailed by COVID. Due to a lot of career changes and moves, it had been delayed for some time. We did the typical route that I’m sure everyone thinks of Tokyo (2 nights) -> Osaka (2 nights) -> Kyoto (3 nights) -> Tokyo (7 nights). Crowds were about what we expected this time of year and with how favorable the USD has been vs the Yen. Still- it was an amazing trip and would love to share tips for anyone that is looking to do something similar soon. [link] [comments] |

One of the most peaceful walks I've ever had, near Arashiyama in Kyoto Visited three cities - Tokyo(4 days), Sapporo(2 days) and Kyoto(4 days). Overall it was an incredibly fascinating experience and a great culture shock -- everything runs perfectly to the minute, the last mile connectivity of public transport is fantastic, never took a single cab despite carrying luggage. The food is to die for, and the amount of effort and care the chefs put into making it very clearly translates into how good it is. The 7/11, Lawson experience was incredible too, it is beyond me how the food there is so fresh and tasty! submitted by /u/OvoCurry3799 [link] [comments]
- Travel to two countries (Japan and Taiwan) or prioritise one country for a longer stay?I will be in Mainland China for work later in the year and I’m looking to take advantage of being in Asia before heading home to Europe. I spent two weeks in Japan last year (Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo and Sapporo) and had the absolute best time. I definitely want visit again and I’ve heard great things about Sendai so I’ve chosen to pair a few days there with some time in Tokyo before flying to Taipei, another place I’ve always wanted to visit. I’m pretty happy with my basic travel itinerary below, but I’m wondering if anyone has done a similar trip or thinks it would be better to prioritise one place instead of both Japan and Taiwan? I honestly don’t know if I’m unnecessarily trying to squeeze any time I can get in Japan and sacrificing more extensive travel in Taiwan… Saturday 10/10 - Travel to Tokyo from Beijing early in the AM.
