In the world of budget flying, Vietjet often faces a negative reputation, but for me, stepping into its “skyboss” fare was a bold decision. I wasn’t just looking for a cheap ticket—I wanted to experience the value, the service, and the vibe that comes with choosing a more affordable airline. The booking came at a reasonable time, not too early nor too late, which helped avoid some of the rush that so many other travelers complain about.
What struck me most was the level of support Vietjet provided from the very start. The priority security line wasn’t a nightmare; it felt manageable, and I was lucky enough to have a dedicated flight attendant help me secure my bagage and keep my carry ons in perfect place. The lounge was surprisingly comfortable for a 30kg baggage, and the shuttle service from check-in to the gate felt seamless. These little touches turned what could have been a stressful process into a smooth, almost effortless one.
The pricing surprised me as well, especially given the premium perks they offered. At $103.75 per person, it wasn’t cheap, but for the sake of affordability and the opportunity to explore Vietnam without breaking the bank, it was a smart move. Plus, the vegetarian meal and water welcome drinks added a thoughtful touch that many travelers overlook. I appreciated that Vietjet didn’t just focus on cost but also on creating a memorable experience, even for a first-time traveler.
What stood out most, though, was the birthday surprise they gave me. It was a small but meaningful gesture that reminded me how personal and thoughtful their service can be. For someone who often travels solo, especially with a family or older relatives, knowing you’re valued makes a big difference. This experience reinforced my belief that sometimes, the best travel isn’t about luxury—it's about the genuine care behind the service.
Looking ahead, I’m curious how Vietjet plans to evolve its offerings to maintain trust while keeping prices competitive. For now, the positive moments I had make this airline a standout choice in my budget travel toolkit.
I know a lot of people strongly don’t recommend flying Vietjet, but I bit the bullet and tried it because even their “business class” was way cheaper than Vietnam airlines. I bought their “skyboss” fare, and honestly, it was pretty good. I paid $103.75 per person one way from HAN-SGN at 6:05-8:05 pm. It’s high for this route but I booked quite late and bc of expensive jet fuel prices.
They gave us access to the priority security (the line was long maybe saved us 20 minutes), 1 piece of 30kg baggage, priority baggage and check-in, the SH priority lounge (also accessible with priority pass so I personally didn’t need it), and a private shuttle to the airplane from the check in counter. The service was actually quite good with 2 dedicated flight attendants and they helped us put our carry ons into the top storage. They gave us waters as a welcome drink and gave us a vegetarian meal for free (included in skyboss fare but you can pay for other options). The leg room was actually quite good (I’m 5’10) and still had a lot of room left over. The seat was mid, like a premium economy seat on United or Frontier business.
I saw a lot of horror stories about this domestic route and delays, but my plane actually arrived 4m early, and my flighty was saying that it’s only early/on time around 42% of the time (take that info with what you will because it’s definitely a gamble to take this airline).
What’s funny is they gave me a special gift because it’s my birth month in May (I never signed up for a Vietjet account). They gave me an option between a Vietjet passport cover or a universal charging cable. I took the passport cover.
TLDR; Took a gamble using Vietjet, paid $103 usd for skyboss fare, pretty good service, surprise birthday gift for birth month, arrived early to SGN
