This isn't just a trip; it's a full-on exploration, a chance to dive headfirst into breathtaking landscapes and create memories that will stick with you forever.

From Salzburg, the adventure unfolds with a bus ride to Bad Ischl, where you’ll catch a train that whispers promises of beauty as it winds its way towards the iconic Hallstatt. And then, the grand finale of this leg: a boat ride across shimmering waters, delivering you to the postcard-perfect village. What’s truly amazing is that every single part of this journey is a scenic ride! Even your return trip is an opportunity for more exploration, hopping on a ferry across Wolfgangsee from Strobl to St. Gilgen, before heading back to Salzburg. It’s a reminder that the path itself is as exciting as the destination, filled with beauty and wonder at every turn.

The best part? This incredible adventure is totally accessible! If you're staying in Salzburg, you might even be entitled to a Salzburg Mobility Ticket, which covers a good chunk of your public transportation in the region. For the train to Hallstatt and the boat ride, you can easily prepurchase tickets or buy them on the spot, keeping things simple and fun. And don't forget the Wolfgangsee ferry – another chance for stunning views purchased right on board. It’s all about making it easy to jump into the experience and embrace the adventure!

From travel

Throwback to my Europe trip on last autumn (October 2025). This is the one of the highlight day of the trip: A day trip starting from Salzburg, bus to Bad Ischl, Train to Hallstatt station, and Boat ride to the Hallstatt.

On the return trip, I did the Wolfgangsee Schifffahrt ferry from Strobl to St Gilgen before continuing with bus back to Salzburg. What fully amazed me is that all of the journey are scenic ride.
