Spain or France? Weighing Northern Spain vs. Southern France for your trip.

Hey there, fellow adventurers! So, you're gearing up for an epic European escapade, hopping from the sun-drenched Cyclades to the charming heel of Italy, and now you're eyeing the end of June for a grand finale in either Northern Spain or Southern France. It sounds like you're ready for a totally fresh vibe after all that Mediterranean goodness, and we are SO here for it! You're dreaming of vibrant shopping, mouthwatering food, and scenery that’ll make your jaw drop – and honestly, who wouldn't be? Let’s dive into the magic of both these incredible destinations and help you pick the perfect spot to wrap up your journey before you jet back to Istanbul.

First up, let's talk Northern Spain! Imagine this: you fly into Madrid, then catch a train to the stunning coastal city of San Sebastián. Picture yourself strolling along La Concha beach, feeling the cool Atlantic breeze, and then diving headfirst into a culinary wonderland. San Sebastián is basically a foodie paradise, with more Michelin stars per square meter than almost anywhere else. You can spend your days exploring its charming old town, indulging in pintxos (those incredible Basque tapas!), and maybe even catching some waves if you're feeling bold. Then, a quick hop over to Bilbao, and boom – you're ready for your flight home, filled with energy and unforgettable memories. The vibe here is all about authentic culture, incredible flavors, and breathtaking coastal beauty. It’s an adventure that truly ignites the senses and leaves you feeling unstoppable!

Now, let’s shift our gaze to the sun-kissed landscapes of Southern France, specifically Provence. If flying in and out of Marseille is looking like the smoother option, then Provence is calling your name! Think rolling vineyards, fields of lavender stretching to the horizon, and charming hilltop villages that look like they're straight out of a dream. Provence offers a slightly different kind of magic – it's about that effortless French chic, the scent of herbs in the air, and leisurely afternoons spent sipping rosé. You can explore vibrant markets overflowing with local produce and artisan crafts, discover hidden coves along the coast, and soak in the artistic heritage that has inspired so many. This region is all about embracing a slower pace, savoring the simple pleasures, and letting the sunshine fill your soul. It’s an invitation to create your own main character moment amidst some of the most picturesque scenery imaginable.

I’m travelling to Europe in June/July and planning to end my trip at the end of June in either Northern Spain or Southern France. I am flying from Bari in Italy and need to get back to Istanbul. I was originally wanting to fly from Bari into Madrid, then train to San Sebastián and fly out of Bilbao. However, it looks easier and cheaper to fly in and out of marseille, which may make Provence a better option. Before this leg of the trip I will be in the Cyclades islands in Greece and Puglia in Italy, so keen for…
