Our Take: Navigating the Uncharted: Your Thailand & Vietnam Adventure Prep!

Hey adventure seekers! It sounds like you're gearing up for an epic journey, jetting off to Thailand tonight with big dreams of exploring Vietnam next. That's the kind of bold spirit we love to see! It's totally normal for travel plans to hit a few unexpected detours, especially when visas are involved. Think of it as part of the adventure – a little puzzle to solve before you dive headfirst into new cultures! The excitement of packing your bags and heading for new horizons is truly a main character moment, and we’re here to help you prep for the best possible experience.

When it comes to those pre-flight checks, airlines and immigration are all about ensuring smooth sailing for everyone. They want to see that you have a plan for your departure from the country you're entering, which is where that exit flight question comes in. It’s a smart move to be thinking about it now! While they might not directly question your *specific* onward visa for Vietnam, they do need to see proof you won't be overstaying your welcome in Thailand. This is where having a booked flight out of Thailand, even if it's a flexible or refundable one, can be a game-changer. It shows you’ve got your next steps covered and are ready for whatever comes next on your grand adventure!

Don't let a little visa waiting game dim your sunshine! The best approach is often to secure that exit flight from Thailand to give yourself peace of mind and satisfy any boarding requirements. You can totally book a refundable ticket to another nearby destination as a placeholder. This way, you have your exit strategy sorted, and you can still pivot your plans if your Vietnamese e-visa comes through smoothly. It’s all about staying agile and keeping that positive energy flowing. Remember, every trip is a chance to learn, grow, and embrace the unexpected. Keep dreaming big, stay bold, and get ready for an unforgettable time in Southeast Asia! Your unstoppable spirit will guide you through!

I'm flying to Thailand tonight with the goal of staying there for 10 days then flying on to Vietnam. I am still waiting for the e-visa from the Vietnamese government and haven't booked my flight to Vietnam just yet as a result.

I realized that I need an exit flight from Thailand otherwise I will not be allowed to board. So here is my question, will the airline/immigration I deal with flying to Thailand care about the fact that I don't have the visa for Vietnam?
