Tips for someone new to prioritising themselves and actually having fun

Our take

Embarking on a journey of self-love and prioritization can feel both exhilarating and daunting. As you prepare for your solo adventure in Italy, it’s the perfect time to embrace joy in small, whimsical ways. From indulging in delicious gelato to treating yourself to fresh flowers in your accommodation, these little moments can enhance your experience. Explore the vibrant streets, savor every bite, and take time to simply breathe and soak in the beauty around you.

I finally started going to therapy a couple months ago at the age of 29 to deal with some stuff and I'm finding out / realizing some unpleasant things about me. Next week I'm heading for a week long solo trip to Italy where I'm planning to eat tons of pizza and ice-cream, walk dozens of kilometres through beautiful streets, stare at the sea for hours and just not think about anything back home for a bit.

What are some things a person who's new to loving themselves and prioritising themselves can do to enjoy life more? What do you do for yourself when you're on holiday that is only meant to bring you joy? I mean, I will be reading, walking, visiting museums and stuff which I always do and enjoy, but I mean more like - something small, whimsical or fleeting - I'm thinking like buying myself some flowers and popping them in a vase at my accommodation so I have something pretty to look at every day
