Oh, this is such a heartfelt question, and we totally get why you’d want to bring your beloved furry friend’s memory with you on your honeymoon! It’s a beautiful way to keep them close, especially during such a special adventure. Traveling, even for the most exciting journeys, can sometimes bring up unexpected worries, and thinking about bringing a part of your pet's ashes with you is a super understandable concern. It’s all about wanting to celebrate your bond and have that little piece of sunshine with you as you embark on this new chapter.

When it comes to bringing pet ashes into New Zealand, the rules can feel a little tricky, especially when it's in a locket rather than a full urn. The official guidelines often focus on larger quantities and specific packaging for cremated remains. However, the good news is that many travelers have successfully brought small memorial items, like lockets or keepsake jewelry containing ashes, into New Zealand without any issues. The key is usually that the amount is minimal and contained within personal jewelry. Think of it less like transporting an urn and more like carrying a deeply personal memento. It's always a good idea to have a little bit of information handy, maybe a certificate of cremation if you have it, just in case, but generally, for such a small, personal item, it’s often treated with understanding.

Ultimately, the decision is yours, and it's completely valid to want to have that tangible connection with your dog as you start your married life. Many people find that carrying a small amount of ashes in jewelry is a comforting way to feel their presence. If you decide to bring your locket, pack it with confidence and positivity! Imagine it as a tiny guardian of good vibes, a symbol of the enduring love you share, accompanying you on this epic adventure. New Zealand is an incredible place, full of breathtaking landscapes, and having your dog’s memory with you can add an extra layer of warmth and adventure to your honeymoon. Here’s to a trip filled with love, sunshine, and unforgettable memories!

My dog passed away last year, and since then I’ve worn a locket with a small amount of his ashes practically every day since.

We’re heading to New Zealand for our honeymoon next week from Australia, and it’s unclear if I’m allowed to take my locket with my dog’s ashes or not, as most of what I see from some research seems to mention urns, not jewellery containing ashes.
