Vietnam finalised Itinerary - feedback please!
Our take
Hello! I'm looking to travel to Vietnam for the last couple weeks of October since weather (apart from Central but I've read October can still be decent) and crowds are pretty good and that's when I have free time. Note that I am absolutely okay with the idea of running around and not really "relaxing", I like to be out and doing things and not resting in my hotel!
The only thing I'm still sceptical about is Ha Long Bay. IF I don't do Ha Long bay then I'll do 2 days Hue and 3 days Da Nang instead and push everything back up one day so I can get a full first day in Hue and potentially an extra day in Hoi An but I think I've planned it accordingly. Here it is:
- Days 1–2 – Hanoi Old Quarter, food, coffee culture. Train Street early morning or late evening Hoan Kiem, Train Street, museums Recover from jet lag
- Day 3 – Ninh Binh day tour Trang An / Tam Coc + Hoa Lu Back to Hanoi in the evening
- Day 4 - Ha Long Bay
- Day 5 - Come back from Ha Long bay late
- Day 6 – Fly Hanoi → Hue arrive at 3:30 - spend half doing solo sights
- Day 7 - Tour of Hue Get your guide full day.
- Day 8 – Travel early and arrive by 12 to Da Nang via train, take the 2pm Da Nang + Hoi An Get your guide tour. Ask to be left at Hoi An at end of it and see Lanterns.
- Day 9 - Coconut Forest, Hoi an Old town, Fujian Assembly Hall, Shops/Markets. Come back to Da Nang late.
- Day 10 – Fly Da Nang → Ho Chi Minh City (Try to arrive at an early flight and spend the day walking around the city, exploring temples and palaces and buildings in the city)
- Days 10–13 – Ho Chi Minh City War Remnants, Cu Chi Tunnels Day 11 - Mekong Delta day trip and Coconut village tour Day 12. Relax and explore
- Day 13 - Back to Hanoi to stay during the day and any last minute purchases and stuff I want to take with me back home and anything I missed in Day 1-2
- Day 14 – Departure back to Ireland
I'm super excited but also really nervous as this would be my first ever proper solo trip to Asia! Many thanks for any recommendations but I'm pretty happy with this list :)

- 2 week Vietnam Itinerary critique/ adviceI’m planning a solo travel Vietnam trip and I’ve tried to build an itinerary that focuses on nature + culture + history + meaningful experiences (not just tourist checklist stuff). Current plan: - Hanoi (2 days, including Hoa Lo Prison) - Ha Giang Loop (3–4 days) - Ninh Binh (2 days) - Fly to Central Vietnam → Hue (2 days) + Hoi An (3 days) - Ho Chi Minh City (2–3 days for war history — War Remnants Museum + Cu Chi Tunnels) A few honest questions: Bay question (very confused): Is it actually worth adding Ha Long Bay / Lan Ha Bay if I’m already doing Ha Giang? I’m not into swimming and I’m worried it might feel slow / touristy. Should I skip completely, do 1 night (Lan Ha?), or is it a must regardless? Sapa vs Ha Giang: I’m currently planning Ha Giang, is there ANY reason to also include Sapa? Heard it has become touristy now. Pacing: Does this plan feel too rushed or actually well-balanced? War history: Are the War Remnants Museum + Cu Chi enough, or is there anything else truly worth adding for history? Anything I’m missing that is genuinely special (not just popular)? I have the possibility to extend the trip for few days. Would really appreciate advices. I am so excited for this trip 🥹🥹 submitted by /u/Key-Ad2972 [link] [comments]

- Rate my vietnam itineraryThis august im going to Vietnam and I’ll have about a week to explore the central and southern parts. I was thinking of spending 2 nights in Hue, 1 night in Hoi An, 2 nights in Da Nang, and 4 nights in Ho Chi Minh. However, I have a few doubts. First, I dont know if 2 days in Hue are enough to see the main things. Second, I’m not sure whether just one night in Hoi An is worth it, considering everyone says it becomes much more beautiful in the evening. I’m also unsure about Da Nang. I’ll obviously pass through it on the way to Hoi An, but I’ve heard it’s mainly a coastal city, so i dont know if its worth visiting, or is it mostly just for relaxing at the beach? Lastly, I’m wondering whether 4 days in Ho Chi Minh City are enough. I’ll already be visiting Hanoi and the northern part of Vietnam in the previous weeks, as I’ll be busy with some volunteer activities there. Thanks a lot for any advice! submitted by /u/FearlessAd39 [link] [comments]
- Vietnam itineraryHi there, first time visitor to Vietnam from Australia with my girlfriend, we are both 31. We have just over 2 weeks there so want to get the right balance of seeing Vietnam but also not constantly moving around trying to do too much. This is a rough itinerary we have put together, we'd be keen for any feedback on it and advice. We'd love to do the Loop as a priority for our trip. We like exploring the outdoors but also learning about history/culture/nightlife. This trip would be end of May and into June. We understand it is rainy in alot of these areas but are okay with it We think breaking down our trip to 3 segments, exploring the north including the ha giang loop - the centre for beach and relaxation and then finish back at HCM. Any help is much appreciated !
