Vietnam in November—looking for feedback on an itinerary
Our take
My partner and I are planning our honeymoon in Vietnam this November and would love some feedback on our itinerary before we commit. Here’s our tentative plan:
Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi late
Days 2-3: Hanoi
Days 4-6: Ha Long Bay (or Bai Tu Bay) cruise
Day 7: bus to Ha Giang
Days 8-10: Ha Giang loop
Day 11: finish Ha Giang loop —> Hanoi
Days 12-13: Ninh Binh (stay in Tam Coc)
Day 14: Ninh Binh —> Hanoi —> HCMC
Days 15-16: HCMC
We’re a pretty active couple and don’t mind long travel days, but this is a honeymoon so we also want some time to relax. Street food is also a priority.
Initially we were going to end the trip with a few nights in Phu Quoc, but decided against it. Feel free to talk us back into it.

- Vietnam, Thailand, CambodiaHi! I'm looking for advice for a couple (F34, F41) My plan is to travel as follows: 12th of December early morning-15th of Dec - Hanoi, 15th of Dec late evening - 20th of Dec - Chiang Mai (tickets already booked) No tickets for rest: 20th of December - 25th of Dec - Koh Samui (travel though Surat Thani and take ferry) 25th of December - 29th of Dec - Bangkok (again ferry to Surat Thani and flight to Bangkok) 29th of December - 1st of January - Siem Reap (night bus to the next stop) 1st of January - 4th of Jan - Phnom Penh, 4th of January - ??? Ho Chi Minh City. I need to travel back home on the 11th of January. I really wanted to see Hoi An, is it possible? I know it may be rainy, so not really sure if it's worth it. Should I stay somewhere longer and finish in Ho Chi Minh City? I would have to travel back home from Ho Chi Minh City. Any other suggestions are very welcome. We are more onto quiet holidays, don't really like partying or crowded cities. Would love to stay somewhere for a couple of relaxing days hence Koh Samui. We are both foodies, love nature, hiking and history. Mid budget. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/walk_sleep_walk_more [link] [comments]
- Vietnam itineraryHi there, first time visitor to Vietnam from Australia with my girlfriend, we are both 31. We have just over 2 weeks there so want to get the right balance of seeing Vietnam but also not constantly moving around trying to do too much. This is a rough itinerary we have put together, we'd be keen for any feedback on it and advice. We'd love to do the Loop as a priority for our trip. We like exploring the outdoors but also learning about history/culture/nightlife. This trip would be end of May and into June. We understand it is rainy in alot of these areas but are okay with it We think breaking down our trip to 3 segments, exploring the north including the ha giang loop - the centre for beach and relaxation and then finish back at HCM. Any help is much appreciated ! - 2 week Vietnam Itinerary critique/ adviceI’m planning a solo travel Vietnam trip and I’ve tried to build an itinerary that focuses on nature + culture + history + meaningful experiences (not just tourist checklist stuff). Current plan: - Hanoi (2 days, including Hoa Lo Prison) - Ha Giang Loop (3–4 days) - Ninh Binh (2 days) - Fly to Central Vietnam → Hue (2 days) + Hoi An (3 days) - Ho Chi Minh City (2–3 days for war history — War Remnants Museum + Cu Chi Tunnels) A few honest questions: Bay question (very confused): Is it actually worth adding Ha Long Bay / Lan Ha Bay if I’m already doing Ha Giang? I’m not into swimming and I’m worried it might feel slow / touristy. Should I skip completely, do 1 night (Lan Ha?), or is it a must regardless? Sapa vs Ha Giang: I’m currently planning Ha Giang, is there ANY reason to also include Sapa? Heard it has become touristy now. Pacing: Does this plan feel too rushed or actually well-balanced? War history: Are the War Remnants Museum + Cu Chi enough, or is there anything else truly worth adding for history? Anything I’m missing that is genuinely special (not just popular)? I have the possibility to extend the trip for few days. Would really appreciate advices. I am so excited for this trip 🥹🥹 submitted by /u/Key-Ad2972 [link] [comments]
- Is this Vietnam + Cambodia itinerary good?Hi everyone! Planning a Vietnam + Cambodia trip for December 13–27 and wanted opinions on the distribution of nights and whether you’d change anything. Current itinerary: Ho Chi Minh City – 3 nights Siem Reap – 4 nights Hoi An – 3 nights Hanoi – 4 nights Planned activities: Explore Ho Chi Minh City + Mekong Delta day trip Explore Siem Reap + Angkor Wat sunrise + temple day + Kulen Mountains day trip + Floating village day trip Explore Hoi An + Da Nang (possibly Ba Na Hills) Hanoi sightseeing + Ha Long Bay day trip Does this distribution sound balanced to people who’ve done similar routes? Would you change the number of nights anywhere? submitted by /u/Stunning-Fee-9153 [link] [comments]
