Wanna surprise my wife with a day trip to London for our anniversary next month but the ETA is making this surprise now complicated, do I need to tell her now?

Our take

Hi everyone! I’m excited to plan a surprise day trip to London for my wife’s anniversary next month, but I just hit a snag with the ETA requirements. Unlike the ESTA, I discovered that I need to download an app and upload a picture of myself with my passport, which complicates my secret plan. I wanted to keep everything a surprise until the last moment, but now I’m wondering if I should tell her sooner. Any advice on how to navigate this without raising suspicion?

Hi everyone,

I’m from France and I wanted to surprise my wife with a daytrip to London.

I was aware of the ETA and thought it would be like the ESTA or something similar were you just need to enter your passport number and everything but NO I just found out that you need to download an app and take a picture of yourself and your passport to be able to apply for the ETA…

I’m kind of disappointed as I wanted apply for it in secret and surprise my wife with the trip by telling her the day before…

Can’t think of an idea of how to keep everything secret without telling her and also be suspicious lol

Do I need to tell her ? Now that my plans are ruined lol
