| | Genuinely so excited for this outfit because I ordered this jacket from Banana Republic and had been looking forward to it ever since I saw it online. I knew it was arriving yesterday, so I wore the shirt and trousers into the office with the plan of throwing the jacket on once I got home and taking the photos. Thankfully, it lived up to what I had in mind. The sheen, the lightweight feel, and the linen-canvas texture make it feel like a perfect spring piece, especially for slightly cooler spring and summer days or evenings. What I like most is how well it works with the shirt. The red and green stripes against the white base stand out beautifully under the olive jacket, and there’s a nice texture contrast between the subtle sheen of the linen-canvas outer layer and the more matte cotton shirt underneath. The brown trousers are mostly there to ground the palette and keep the whole outfit rooted in that chocolate/earth-tone lane. It’s probably the weakest part of the outfit since I just filled in the blanks, but overall I’m really happy with how this turned out. I have been obsessed with the latest Velasca lookbook, so I treated this as an early test run for where I want my style to go this summer. If you’ve seen my previous posts, you know I love a good tonal palette for my fits. This one is a nice mix of chocolate brown, cream, and espresso. I’ve also made sure the tones are cooler-leaning and the whole look feels incredibly cohesive and intentional. It gives off an earthy, sophisticated vibe that feels very grounded (and I just love the espresso/chocolate browns). The main goal was to keep the contrast low so I swapped a bright white tee for off-white/cream It makes the transition to those deep earth tones feel a lot more natural and ‘organic’. I focused on how the proportions and textures play together. The high-rise pleats give me the silhouette I want *specifically* because the linen blazer is unstructured. comboing that with the high rise pleats gives me that rule of thirds that helps elongate my frame in a really nice way too.
