Will airport wheelchair assistance help carry my laptop bag too? (Post-surgery travel)

Our take

Hey everyone! I'm gearing up for an exciting journey from India to the US, but I’ll be traveling 6–7 weeks post-surgery. Since I’ll have some mobility challenges, I plan to request wheelchair assistance at the airport. I’m curious if the staff will also help carry my laptop bag or backpack, as it’s quite heavy and I’m concerned about navigating check-in, security, and boarding. If anyone has recently used wheelchair assistance for international flights, I’d love to hear your experiences! Thanks so much!

Hi everyone,

I’ll be traveling from India to the US soon and will be around 6–7 weeks post-surgery. Because of that, I won’t be able to walk long distances or carry anything heavy.

I’m planning to request wheelchair assistance at the airport, but I had a question — will the staff also help carry my laptop bag/backpack? It’s quite heavy, and I’m worried about managing it through check-in, security, and boarding.

If anyone has used wheelchair assistance recently (especially for international flights), could you share your experience? Do they help with personal bags too, or should I arrange something separately?

Thanks in advance!
