how do start doing basic, clean manicure at home?

i’ve never done anything to my nails besides using polish, but it doesn’t last long on my nails because of how fragile they are. what would i need to use as a beginner to get nails like that? i want something clean and basic for every day look, including the nail care (not sure what products to use to get these results)
