United PE (1 layover) or Air Canada PE (2 layovers)

Trying to decide what to do. Traveling from MCI to MNL.

Air Canada: MCI - DEN - YVR - MNL

United: MCI - SFO - MNL

I already booked with AC, then suddenly UA dropped their price. I understand AC will have a cancellation fee. UA requires about 38k more points than AC but having one less layover is more appealing. I’ve flown UA PE before from Europe and really appreciated the leg support in the recline that AC doesn’t have. Do I just suck it up and take the extra layover with AC so I can use the 38k points elsewhere or is it worth paying the cancellation fee and 38k more points to have one less layover?

Appreciate any insight!
