Mascara for straight lashes?

I have pin straight lashes and no matter what I do they won’t hold a curl. I’ve tried holding the curler for a long time, curling multiple times, and i’ve tried curling mascaras. So far the only thing that’s worked is a lash lift but those are so expensive in my area. Any suggestions on budget friendly options that will curl the most stubborn lashes?
