My eyebrow pencil makes my eyebrows look grey?

I have dark brown hair and medium to dark brown eyebrows. I fill in my brows sometimes, but I feel like when I do, they sometimes appear to have this gray hue color?

I currently use the Maybelline XPress Brow Ultra Slim Pencil in Deep Brown. I’m on the more fair side, but with warm undertones. Not sure what is happening here! I’ve tried a few other brands/pencils, and ive had this same issue! Anyone have any thoughts or advice/reccs?
