Gallstones travel insurance

Supposed to leave in early may to go to Mexico for a week. Just found out I have gallstones and sludge in my gallbladder. I didn’t purchase travel insurance because I have it through my benefits with work. I have an appointment on Thursday to discuss these results with my family doctor. Recently had a painful attack that led to the discovery. 15 minute episode felt like I was giving birth. I’m not sure if she will suggest not travelling. If she does give me the go head , does. Anyone have experience getting travel insurance ?
